Of which, Math and English are the 2 main subjects for recruitment, so the upcoming standard score is expected to decrease slightly compared to 2024.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department, University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that, with the reality of the exam questions and the test-taking situation of candidates this year, it can be predicted that the benchmark score of the high school graduation exam results method will generally decrease compared to last year.

The benchmark scores of admission combinations with Literature, Math, and English will decrease more than those with History, Geography, EconomicEducation , and Law. In particular, the D01 combination (Math - Literature - English) will have a sharp decrease in benchmark scores compared to 2024. This will lead to disadvantages for candidates if schools consider admission to a major with many combinations but do not have a mechanism to adjust scores between combinations.

Regarding the University of Economics and Law, Mr. Cu Xuan Tien said that this year the school will recruit 6 groups, an increase of 2 groups compared to 2024. Mr. Tien informed that, with the current reality, the school's admissions board is considering adjusting the difference in admission scores for groups with English subjects to ensure the rights of candidates. The official information will be announced by the school after the high school graduation exam scores are available.

In addition, this year the school allows candidates with international English certificates to choose between converting them into English subject scores in the admission combination or adding bonus points to the total score of the admission combination. With the difficulty of the English subject this year, Mr. Tien predicts that many candidates will use international English certificates to apply to the school.

“Candidates should not worry, the important thing now is to carefully refer to the admission information of the schools and arrange their wishes scientifically to optimize their chances of being admitted to their favorite majors and schools. Difficult questions are difficult in general, the benchmark scores between methods/combinations will be adjusted accordingly by the schools. In addition, according to the new admission regulations, all methods must be considered for admission at the same time (early admission is eliminated), and there is an equivalent conversion of admission scores, so the chance of being admitted by considering high school graduation exam scores will be higher than in 2024,” said Mr. Tien.

In 2024, each subject must have at least 8 points to be admitted.

In 2024, the benchmark score for the University of Economics and Law ranges from 24.39 to 27.44. To be admitted to the school, candidates must have an average score of at least excellent in 3 subjects (8.13 points/subject) or higher.

Specifically: the lowest admission score is 24.39 points for the Public Management major. The E-commerce major has the highest admission score: 27.34 points. Other majors of the School with a score above 27 are: Management Information Systems (Co-operative Education program, starting enrollment in 2024): 27.25 points, Digital Marketing: 27.10 points. The remaining majors all have a score of 25-26.

In 2025, University of Economics and Law will enroll students in 3 ways.

Method 1 is direct admission, with priority given to 4 subjects: according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; excellent and talented high school candidates according to regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University; candidates on the list of 149 high schools with priority for admission of Ho Chi Minh City National University; candidates with international certificates such as: International Baccalaureate (IB), A-level, SAT or ACT.

Method 2 is admission based on the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam.

Method 3 is admission based on high school graduation exam results in 2025.

This year, the University of Economics and Law has 6 admission groups, all of which include Math and English, such as: Math - Physics - Chemistry (A00); Math - English - Physics (A01); Math - English - Literature (D01); Math - English - Chemistry (D07); Math - English - Informatics (X26); Math - English - Economic and Legal Education (X25).

The school publicly announced tuition fees for the Vietnamese language program as 31.5 million VND and for the English language program as 65 million VND for the first year.
