As one of 24 communes in the plan to reach the NTM target by 2024, up to now, the rural appearance of Vi Huong commune (Bach Thong, Bac Kan ) has changed a lot, the village roads and alleys are spacious and airy, infrastructure is gradually invested synchronously, the rural economy has changed positively, the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improving... That is the "sweet fruit" of the efforts in building new rural areas (NTM) of the whole commune.

Ms. Le Thi Hien (Na It village) shared: Before the new rural construction program, when the road was not built, the people in our village had difficulty traveling, it was muddy in the rainy season, and dusty in the dry season. Since the new rural area was established, the Party and the State invested in building a new road, everyone in the village was excited and happy, our children could go to school more conveniently, and farmers' agricultural products could be conveniently brought to the market to sell, we are very grateful to the State.

According to Ms. Hien, to gradually complete the goal of building a new rural area, despite many economic difficulties, many households in the commune have voluntarily contributed labor, money, and donated land to build roads to build a new rural area. The emulation movements to build a new rural area have been enthusiastically responded to by the people. Members of the Commune Women's Union have also proactively renovated their houses, planted ornamental trees, green fences, and planted flowers at home. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huong Vi commune, said: "With the focused leadership and direction of the Provincial Office for Coordination of New Rural Construction and the People's Committee of Bach Thong district, along with the high determination of the Party Committee, the People's Committee of the commune and all cadres and people, up to now, Vi Huong has achieved encouraging results.

In particular, through the new rural program, essential infrastructure systems in the commune such as electricity, roads, schools, and stations have been invested in more and more synchronously; political security and social order and safety have been maintained; the appearance of Vi Huong commune has changed day by day.

Currently, Vi Huong commune has completed 16/19 NTM criteria, with 3 criteria remaining: Income, poor households, environment and food safety.

The rural traffic system in Vi Huong commune has been concreted, creating favorable conditions for people to travel conveniently, trade goods and develop the economy.

Striving to reach the NTM target by 2024

According to the Party Secretary of Vi Huong commune, according to the roadmap, the commune will reach the finish line by the end of the year. And the most difficult thing in building new rural areas in the locality is the criteria of income and poor households. In 2023, the average income of people in the commune reached 30.18 million VND/year. The whole commune still has 91 poor households and 120 near-poor households. In 2024, we strive for an average income per capita of 45 million VND/person/year and reduce the poverty rate to 12% (44 poor households, 65 near-poor households).

To achieve this goal, in recent times, Vi Huong commune has implemented many solutions, innovated production organization forms; developed goods with high economic value and efficiency; determined and selected key products, seedlings, and strengths of the locality to focus on commodity production...

By the end of 2023, Bac Kan will have 28 communes meeting new rural standards and 04 communes meeting advanced new rural standards. In 2024, the whole province strives to build 24 communes meeting new rural standards; 06 communes meeting advanced new rural standards.

Accordingly, in Vi Huong commune, models of production and product consumption linkage have been implemented: Model of raising goats, horses, and breeding pigs; models of high-quality rice projects; projects to develop eco-tourism value chains associated with high-value crops with state budget support of 900 million VND.

Along with that, Vi Huong commune launched a movement to collect pesticide packaging; build a model of "Fields without pesticide packaging", "Say no to pesticide packaging and bottles in the fields". From there, it helps people change their thinking, raise awareness in preserving a safe environment, and complete environmental criteria in building new rural areas.

To achieve environmental criteria, from the beginning of the year, the Party Committee of Vi Huong commune has set out comprehensive solutions, which is to propagate so that all people understand the policy on building new rural areas, from which people strive to rise up. At the same time, implementing support projects on production development and community projects to increase people's income.

"Regarding the multidimensional poverty criteria, the Commune Party Committee builds a plan and assigns targets to organizations to support people in economic development so that by the end of the year, the poverty rate will be reduced to 12%," the Commune Party Committee Secretary added.

With the achieved results and the high determination of the entire political system from district to commune and village, we believe that Vi Huong commune will reach the new rural finish line according to the plan set out in 2024.
