This morning (December 3), the sky in Ho Chi Minh City is gloomy, no sunshine, light rain and fog appear in many places. According to the reporter's records, the phenomenon of unseasonal rain has appeared in Ho Chi Minh City since yesterday.

"There was no sun, it was foggy from yesterday until this morning, along with showers. I don't know if the fog is due to high humidity or air pollution, but when going out I always have to wear a mask to ensure my health" - Ms. Ngoc Anh (living in Binh Tan district) shared.

According to the Air Visual air monitoring application (belonging to IQAir, which owns a large amount of aggregated data on air quality and is headquartered in Switzerland), many areas in Ho Chi Minh City have air quality measurement points that are not good for health.

Specifically, according to the Air Visual application, the concentration of PM 2.5 fine dust in Ho Chi Minh City at 7:30 a.m. on December 3 was 60µg/m³ (the allowable level is about 5 µg/m³). "The concentration of PM 2.5 fine dust in Ho Chi Minh City is currently 12 times higher than the value according to WHO's annual air quality guidelines" - Air Visual informed.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the rainy season in the South has completely ended in the first half of November, however in December there will still be unseasonal rains with widespread thunderstorms lasting for a few days and some places are likely to have moderate to heavy rain.

It is forecasted that in the first 10 days of the month, the cold air will intensify on December 7. The low pressure trough with its axis at about 4-7 degrees North latitude will slightly lift its axis to the north from December 2-7 with the possibility of connecting with a low pressure area in the southern East Sea. Above, the subtropical high pressure with its axis over the Central region will operate with relatively stable intensity.

The weather in the Southern region and Ho Chi Minh City from December 2-7 is likely to have scattered rain with some places having moderate rain, locally heavy rain.

Highest temperature 30-33 degrees Celsius; lowest 21-25 degrees Celsius, northern Eastern region 20-21 degrees Celsius.

During the 10 days in the middle of the month, the weather in the Southern region is affected by the southern edge of the continental cold high pressure tongue. Around mid to late week, the low pressure trough with an axis at about 4-7 degrees North latitude will lift its axis to the North with the possibility of a low pressure area appearing in the southern East Sea. It is necessary to be on guard against the possibility of the low pressure area strengthening into a tropical depression or storm, causing dangerous weather at sea and widespread thunderstorms on land in the region.

The weather in the Southern region is generally less rainy and chilly at night and early morning. Some days in the early morning there is light fog. Beware of the low pressure area in the southern East Sea moving in, causing an unseasonal rain with some places having moderate to heavy rain in the area.

During the remaining days of December, the weather in the region is mainly influenced by the southern edge of the strong cold high pressure tongue. The northeast wind dominates the region with moderate to strong intensity. The weather in the region is generally less rainy, with cool weather at night and early morning. Some days have light fog in the early morning.
