Realizing that digitalization is an inevitable step in flexible operation of the power system, reducing power loss and saving costs, Ca Mau Power Company has proactively applied advanced scientific and technological achievements, especially in the fields of electronics and information technology.
These modern technologies are applied in monitoring, remote control, operational automation, as well as real-time data analysis, making the entire operation of the electricity industry more efficient.
According to Ca Mau newspaper, to move towards a modern power grid infrastructure, Ca Mau Electricity Company has deployed a series of specific technical solutions.
Recently, the unit has installed routers and configured and established human-machine interface (HMI) data for the 22 kV grid at the Control Center of the Dispatch Room, helping dispatchers to be more flexible and convenient in monitoring and operating the grid, and reducing the load on the distribution grid control software (Spectrum Power 7) of the SCADA system (Control, monitoring and data acquisition) of the Southern Power Corporation.
The introduction of HMI interface configuration at the Control Center via APN network - the "gateway" connecting the device and the Internet, allowing the device to access mobile data such as 3G, 4G, 5G - has contributed to improving the operational efficiency of the SCADA system in particular, and promoting the automation of the power grid managed by Ca Mau Electricity Company in general. As a result, the reliability of power supply to customers has been significantly improved.
In parallel with the completion of the medium and low voltage grid and the 110 kV system, all unmanned 110 kV transformer stations have been integrated with SCADA, helping the operation process to be flexible, economical and significantly reduce power loss.
In particular, the Distribution Automation System (DAS) is also being gradually deployed, allowing for quick detection of fault points, isolating the affected area, and automatically transferring and restoring power to the remaining area.
Investing heavily in smart grids
Aiming at the goal of developing a safe, flexible and proactive smart grid in data collection, monitoring and control, Ca Mau Power Company is currently investing in a series of new projects along with upgrading the existing grid infrastructure.
These projects are oriented to meet increasing load demand, especially in industrial parks and new urban areas.
In 2025 alone, the company plans to implement many projects with a total planned capital of over 908.4 billion VND.
Of which, there are 17 categories, 110 kV projects, 68 22 kV grid projects, and 1 information technology project, demonstrating the large scale of investment and long-term vision of the unit.
Faced with the rapidly increasing demand for electricity and the need for modernization and sustainable energy conversion, the development of smart grids has become an inevitable direction.
This model not only helps ensure safe, stable and efficient electricity supply, but also makes an important contribution to the socio -economic development of Ca Mau province in the new period.
