Appearance of 3 underground stations of metro line 1 before opening day

(Dan Tri) - With unique architecture and distinct highlights, the three underground stations of metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) are ready for official operation.

Ben Thanh Station is the central station of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), with the largest scale and area among 14 stations. The station is 236m long, 60m wide, about 32m deep, and has 4 floors. According to the plan, Ben Thanh Station will be the connection point of Metro Lines 1, 2, 4, 3a. Metro Line 1 has completed 100% of the construction volume and is currently completing procedures to put into operation on December 22.

The highlight of Ben Thanh Station is the 6m high, 21.6m diameter skylight, designed in the shape of a lotus flower, which provides natural light to the basement. In addition, the skylight also creates an open space for the underground station.

Ben Thanh Station is designed with a dominant white tone, with 174 aluminum-clad concrete pillars. The first floor has an area of ​​45,000m2, in addition to the function of a waiting hall and ticket sales, this area also integrates a commercial center.

The entire station has elevators, stairs and escalators for passengers.

The platform area (train boarding and alighting) of Ben Thanh station is located on the 2nd basement level. The system of signs and signal lights has been fully installed.

The City Theater Station , located not far away, is also designed to be extremely luxurious with the highlight being the ceiling decorated with brown iron patterns, simulating the architectural style of the City Theater. The City Theater Station is designed underground, 190m long, 26m wide, with 4 floors and an area of ​​nearly 5,000m2.

The automatic ticket vending machine system is installed on the first basement floor of the station. Train passengers can choose from round-trip, daily, three-day and monthly tickets.

The ticket control area is divided into lanes, some of which are designed wider than others to accommodate people with disabilities. The lowest fare for a single trip is 7,000 VND and the highest is 20,000 VND (for cash-paying passengers). For non-cash single-trip tickets, the lowest fare is 6,000 VND and the highest is 19,000 VND. A daily ticket costs 40,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips per day; a 3-day ticket costs 90,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips per 3 days. Regular passengers buy a monthly ticket for 300,000 VND, with no limit on the number of trips per month. A monthly ticket for students costs 150,000 VND. The above ticket prices include passenger insurance.

The entire area at metro stations is paved with tenji tiles for the visually impaired.

The railway leads to where the train stops to pick up and drop off passengers on the second floor of the City Theater Station. The City Theater Station and Ba Son Station are connected by an underground railway of about 1km. Once completed and put into operation, the train will only take about a minute to travel between these two stations.

As the smallest underground station of the three stations, Ba Son station has only 2 floors, 240m long, more than 34m wide, 20m deep. The highlight of Ba Son station is the ceiling covered with white steel patterns, creating wavy shapes.

Currently, Ba Son station has 24 operating staff, City Theater station and Ben Thanh station have 27 and 23 staff respectively. "As one of the city's key projects, metro line 1 is gradually approaching the finish line. Hopefully this will be a bright spot for the city to develop further," said Mr. Le Huu Duyen (Ba Son station staff).

These days, workers are cleaning, sanitizing the floor, and checking items to ensure operation on December 22.

Ba Son Station is also the last underground station of metro line 1 before transferring to the elevated section.

Metro No. 1 is the first urban railway line built in Ho Chi Minh City, 19.7km long, including 2.6km underground and 17.1km elevated. The total investment after adjustment is 43,700 billion VND. The project has a route through District 1, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) and Di An ( Binh Duong ).
