Phone exploded while charging, injuring woman

On August 6, Bac Thang Long Hospital ( Hanoi ) announced that it had just admitted a female patient (37 years old, from Bac Giang) who was seriously injured due to a phone explosion while charging and using it at the same time.

At the time of admission, the patient's right hand was crushed, causing exposed tendons, bones, multiple injuries to the face, neck, soft tissue of the chest, abdomen and many other areas of the body.

The patient was initially treated and then transferred to Viet Duc Hospital for further treatment.

Previously, at the end of July, Son La Provincial General Hospital also received a 7-year-old male patient with severe groin injury and heavy bleeding due to using a phone while charging a power bank.

The patient was admitted to the hospital with the entire penis skin peeled off, the corpus cavernosum ruptured, the skin peeled off exposing both testicles, extensive soft tissue damage in the groin area, and especially the right femoral artery and vein torn.

Doctors warn that injuries caused by explosives in general, and phone chargers in particular, are often very serious and complicated. Notably, crushing injuries caused by explosions have a very high risk of requiring amputation of limbs. In addition, victims may also suffer from blindness, scarring, etc., leaving lifelong sequelae.

In light of the above incident, doctors recommend not using your phone while charging. You should not use your phone when sitting next to an area that generates a lot of heat, such as a stove, under hot sunlight... because the device can absorb heat, heat up and explode. You should use genuine technology devices that have been safety-checked...
