Overcoming the "death sentence" at the age of 25, living a new life
Actress Kim Phuong was born into an ethnic family in Soc Trang with a Khmer mother and a Kinh father.
Since childhood, Kim Phuong studied at Mien Pagoda for Khmer children. She was a good student and soon showed her artistic talent with dancing, singing and acting skills.

During Khmer festivals, Lam Thon dances, Ro Bam dance plays, Du Ke operas... fascinated the girl Kim Phuong at that time.
She also officially started her career in film when she was in her twenties, and then made great strides in her artistic career later on.
“I always remember where I came from. I have never felt inferior or not accepted that I am an ethnic person. Once when I went to America, some people asked me if I was Korean, I said: 'No! I am Vietnamese' ,” she told VietNamNet .
Kim Phuong brought with her dreams and ambitions when she left her hometown to start a career in Saigon. However, everything suddenly came to an end one day in 2006, when the actress held in her hand the results of her breast cancer diagnosis.

Receiving the medical record in her hand, Kim Phuong blamed her fate, feeling that the door to her life had closed. She sat motionless for 3 hours, her mind "frozen" because she couldn't think of anything, let alone cry.
After the moment of crisis, the actor returned to the hospital to visit and talk directly with the French doctor to find a suitable treatment regimen.
“I told the doctor to give me the best treatment because I was single and could not collapse at this time. I asked the hospital not to do any paperwork, just to give me a code number. I was afraid that if my mother and grandmother accidentally saw me, I would not be able to make it through…”, she said.
During the days of treatment, despite trying to keep her spirits up, the actress could not help but collapse, her negative mentality overwhelmed her. She wandered around many places, did many things with the mindset of "living fast to wait for death".
It was not until she felt like she was falling into the abyss that her inner instincts rose up to help her regain her desire to live.
Kim Phuong gradually recovered after treatment, but had to undergo many health checks before she believed she was back to normal. In just a few years, the actress got married, had children, and fulfilled her role as the woman she had long desired.
Looking back, the actress is grateful for the time of illness that helped her realize many things. Difficulties and challenges that were previously burdens and pressures have now become lighter than ever because she believes that when passing through death's door, nothing is more important than life.
Sometimes she can't help but feel sad when hearing about relatives or colleagues who have "cancer". Some people actively fight like diva Hong Nhung, others quietly leave like actresses Mai Phuong, Thanh Hoa or most recently Quy Binh.
Actor lives optimistically after cancer incident.
“Sometimes I want to meet and share with them. I hope that if people go for a check-up, they should get checked and treated thoroughly. When treating and recovering from cancer, psychology and mental will play an extremely important role,” she said.
Overcoming a serious illness, Kim Phuong is conscious of maintaining her health and spreading a positive attitude to everyone. In addition to a scientific diet, she actively exercises, jogs, belly dances, goes to the gym or plays "heavy" sports like Muay Thai to stay in shape and healthy.
10 years of living without sadness
Kim Phuong, U50, has a happy life with her husband and 2 children. Unlike many artists, she chose to "hide" her husband and children because she wanted them to be peaceful and not affected by public opinion.
The actress feels lucky because her husband understands and supports her decisions. In life, the two do not set any principles, everything is based on responsibility and mutual respect.
“At this age, I look at love very differently. It is no longer about the immediate excitement, but what is important is how to share emotions. My happiness is coming home at the end of the day and chatting with my husband and children. A few stories, sometimes silly and joking, are boundless happiness,” she said.
Over the years, Kim Phuong has continued to act diligently - although sometimes her passion for the profession has diminished somewhat due to life, age and external factors.
Up to now, the actress has appeared in nearly 30 large and small films. She left her mark with the role of "boss lady" Phuong De in The Saigon Special Forces' Children , Lien Hoa in Stormy Life , Tu in Swapping Fate and Tu's assistant - Ong Chua - in the film Storm on VTV.
The actress once opened a chain of Korean restaurants for 7 years but then closed them all because she found them unsuitable. She now has her own company that produces sportswear , essential oils and perfumes...
Occasionally, Kim Phuong accepts to participate in a few film projects. The actress is determined to work with a relaxed mindset, not letting herself be swept away by worries about money or frivolous fame.
Many projects from the South to the North sent her invitations, but she refused because she felt she was not "lucky" enough. The actress believes that when working, she must give her all, and if she cannot complete it, she will proactively ask to withdraw. Kim Phuong expressed regret for missing the casting for Tunnels - a war film project she especially loves.
Off the screen, Kim Phuong returns to being a normal woman as she describes herself: Introverted, reserved and lowkey (reclusive lifestyle, not ostentatious - PV).
After a series of tragic days, she looks at everything lightly, not taking gains and losses, winning and losing too seriously. For an actress, a complete home, healthy family, and being together every day is enough.
“Money is never enough, luckily for many years I have not been burdened by it. For over 10 years I have not been sad, the important thing in this life is how to accept it,” Kim Phuong confided.
