On the runway of Vogue World: Hollywood 2025, African cultural icons, strength and style were recreated in designs imbued with the spirit of Afrofuturism.
This was not just a show, but a historic moment that proved that fashion is rooted in culture and can be both international and classy.
Opening the show is Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda, wearing an original purple velvet gown created by Oscar-winning designer Ruth E. Carter.
The soft velvet and intricate gold embroidery reflected the light, making every move a celebration of female heritage and empowerment. Angela not only showcased fashion, but also embodied the spirit of Black Panther with her regal bearing and proud gaze.
Shortly after, two African-American actresses, Danai Gurira and Teyana Taylor, followed Angela Bassett on the catwalk. While Gurira retained the aura of General Okoye, Taylor unexpectedly made a strong impression with a red-bronze armor inspired by the “Dora Milaje” (a group of high-ranking female bodyguards).
Leather corset, metal details and strong shape enhance the image of a modern warrior, seductive, proud and full of energy.
Even though she never appeared in the movie, Teyana still made viewers believe that she was a part of the Wakanda kingdom.
Not to be outdone, Jodie Turner-Smith brings a futuristic Wakanda to life in Rachel Scott's one-of-a-kind design.
She wore a banana green mesh bodysuit with dark brown trim, high crocheted stockings and gold accessories. Her tan skin glowed under the lights, making her look like a “futuristic goddess”, combining strength with African cultural beauty.
The Black Panther- inspired performance was considered one of the top performances at the event.
Not only does it stand out because of its star-studded cast, but it also has a profound message: fashion is the language of heritage. Under the hands of Ruth E. Carter and fashion houses like McQueen, Louis Vuitton, and Valentino, the line between cinema and fashion has been blurred.
This year's Vogue World: Hollywood 2025 celebrates not only beauty but also the power of culture. Black Panther changed the way the world sees African fashion, and in Hollywood, that spirit is alive once again.
