Adjusting waterway traffic to expand Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced the restriction of inland waterway traffic on Ong Nhieu canal to serve the construction of Ong Nhieu bridge, part of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway expansion project.

From the date of this notice until February 7, 2026, at Km 01+980 Ong Nhieu canal in Long Truong ward (construction location of Ong Nhieu bridge under the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section), many solutions will be implemented to ensure waterway traffic safety during construction.

Specifically, 2 buoys will be arranged to indicate the limited position on the right bank of the Ong Nhieu canal channel, symbol A1.1; 2 buoys will be arranged to indicate the limited position on the left bank of the Ong Nhieu canal channel, symbol A1.2; about 100m upstream from the construction area, about 100m downstream and about 28m from the natural bank towards the channel.

The traffic control station to ensure upstream and downstream traffic safety is located about 300m from the regulation area.

The Department of Construction requires drivers of inland waterway vehicles when traveling to construction sites to strictly comply with the rules and instructions of inland waterway signals (onshore, underwater) and control stations at the site.

Follow flow announcements on mass media, comply with issued legal regulations related to inland waterway traffic safety.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section has a total length of about 22 km, starting at the Ring Road 2 intersection, Ho Chi Minh City and ending at the intersection with Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Dong Nai province.

The project has an investment of more than 16,300 billion VND, started on August 19 and will be basically completed by the end of 2026. As for Long Thanh bridge, the main bridge is expected to be closed in December 2026 and the remaining items will be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
