At this conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed about the notable adjustments in the Power Plan VIII. Accordingly, the proportion of renewable energy (such as wind power, solar power, biomass, etc.) in the power source structure is adjusted to increase, aiming to gradually reduce dependence on coal and fossil energy; gradually reduce coal-fired thermal power sources and prioritize the development of LNG gas power to achieve the Net zero target; focus on the power transmission grid; synchronously develop energy infrastructure, etc.

For Dong Nai, according to the decision to adjust the Power Plan VIII, the province is allocated an additional 2.7 thousand MW of power sources: hydropower, rooftop solar power and concentrated solar power, waste-to-energy and biomass power.

In the coming time, based on the increased capacity of the allocated sources of various types, the Provincial People's Committee will direct the consulting units to adjust and update the provincial planning and the provincial planning implementation plan. At the same time, direct the localities to adjust the land use planning and construction planning accordingly to facilitate the implementation of the project. Quickly organize the selection of investors to implement the project according to their authority; arrange land funds and ensure the site for the development of power projects.

Currently, the province has a number of large power source projects that are being and will be implemented: 2 projects are Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plants, with a capacity of 1,624 MW, under implementation; Tri An Hydropower Expansion Project, with a capacity of 200 MW, expected to start construction of the main project in May 2025; 3 floating solar power projects with a total capacity of 1,069 MW, not yet implemented.
