Making Quang Ninh the leading Muslim-friendly tourist destination in Vietnam

On May 30, in Ha Long City, Ha Long University in collaboration with the Institute of South Asian, West Asian and African Studies (under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) organized an international conference on “Developing Quang Ninh into one of the leading Muslim-friendly tourist destinations in Vietnam”. Attending the conference were Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh and 200 domestic and international delegates who are ambassadors of Muslim countries in Vietnam, international organizations, experts, scientists, and businesses in many fields related to Halal.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh emphasized: With an open economy and stable environment, Vietnam, especially Quang Ninh, is deeply integrating into the global Halal value chain. With the desire to become a locality that successfully builds tourism that is friendly to the culture and needs of Muslim guests, the workshop is a forum for Quang Ninh province to exchange knowledge, share experiences, analyze the current situation and shape a strategy for sustainable Halal tourism development in the area.

Quang Ninh province hopes to receive the attention, support, sharing and companionship of ambassadors, expert organizations, domestic and international organizations on the journey to make Quang Ninh become the leading Muslim-friendly tourist destination in Vietnam.

Delegates presented papers, providing multi-dimensional perspectives, pointing out core issues in the process of building and developing Muslim-friendly tourism in Quang Ninh.

With more than 2 billion Muslims worldwide, the demand for travel, relaxation and exploration of the Muslim community is increasing. As one of the key tourism destinations in Vietnam, Quang Ninh province identifies that correctly identifying trends, seizing opportunities and building a methodical approach strategy are decisive factors to attract more strongly, moving towards building a destination brand with the Halal tourist market.

The opinions at the workshop were multi-dimensional, pointing out core issues in the process of building and developing Muslim-friendly tourism in Quang Ninh such as: Market identification, necessary Halal standards, human resource capacity in meeting the requirements of this type of tourism, assessing the current situation and development prospects of Quang Ninh.

Based on identifying opportunities and challenges, experts also proposed strategic solutions for Quang Ninh to truly "take off", affirming its position as a leading destination for Muslim tourists such as: Forming a tourism service ecosystem that meets the specific standards of the Halal tourist segment, a communication strategy to build a destination brand, and the ability to provide human resources to meet the development of Halal tourism.

Nearly 200 domestic and international delegates attended the conference.

At the workshop, a cooperation signing ceremony took place between Ha Long University and Raja Vietnam Halal Training Company Limited to improve the quality of training, consulting and certification of Halal standards in Quang Ninh.

In fact, Quang Ninh has all the conditions for tourism resources with beautiful and rich natural scenery and more than 600 relics and scenic spots, especially the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay. In addition, Quang Ninh owns modern tourism and transportation infrastructure, ready to meet all the needs of the Muslim market.

Quang Ninh is also the first locality in the country to sign a cooperation agreement with the Conformity Certification Center on implementing Muslim-friendly tourism standards. Upon completion, Quang Ninh will become the first locality in the country to implement the Halal Standards in the tourism sector, contributing to the development of the Halal industry, effectively implementing the Project "Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030" approved by the Prime Minister on February 14, 2023.
