In particular, the plan focuses on developing renewable energy sources (except hydropower) for electricity production, with the target of reaching a rate of about 28 - 36% by 2030 and aiming for 74 - 75% by 2050. At the same time, the plan sets a target of controlling greenhouse gas emissions from electricity production, reducing them to about 197 - 199 million tons by 2030 and about 27 million tons by 2050.
In Son La province, according to the national power plan to 2030, there will be significant growth in the capacity of power sources, specifically 411 MW of hydropower, 3,724 MW of solar power, 580 MW of wind power, 16 MW of biomass power and 900 MW of pumped storage hydropower.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to create favorable conditions for the province to cooperate with investors in implementing floating solar power projects on hydroelectric reservoirs. Continue to invest in expanding and upgrading the capacity of transmission lines and transformer stations in the province. Son La hopes to receive attention and support from the Ministry to accelerate the progress of energy investment projects, aiming for an economic growth target of 8% in 2025.
Concluding the conference, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with ministries and branches to adjust and supplement financial mechanisms and electricity prices, towards operating according to market mechanisms. Widely inform about the adjustment of the national power development plan for the period 2021-2026, with a vision towards 2030. Localities urgently review and adjust the investment portfolio in accordance with the national power plan and provincial planning; speed up the steps of approving investment policies, selecting investors who meet the requirements on capacity, finance, and arranging land for power projects according to the law. Regarding the proposals from Son La province, the Minister noted that the development of floating solar power requires careful consideration of the depth of the reservoir and safety measures. For wind power projects, careful topographic surveys must be conducted to prevent the risk of landslides and protect the safety of the community.
