On the afternoon of October 3, the People's Committee of Hoi An Dong Ward (Da Nang City) held a press conference to inform about the announcement of Thanh Tam inland tourist wharf and introduce Cam Thanh tourist village, which was recently honored by Forbes magazine (USA) in the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world .

Highlights of the Bay Mau coconut forest

Previously, on September 11, Forbes magazine announced the list of the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world in 2025. The voting went through many rounds with different criteria, from the list of nominations around the world. Cam Thanh (Hoi An City, old Quang Nam Province, now Hoi An Dong Ward, Da Nang City) ranked 20th in the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world.

Every year, Cam Thanh attracts more than 1 million domestic and foreign visitors.

Cam Thanh is also the only representative of Vietnam to be honored with this title, contributing to bringing pride to Vietnamese tourism.

Cam Thanh has an area of ​​about 937.16 hectares, with a dense canal system and a water surface area of ​​up to 348.69 hectares.

Cam Thanh stands out with the Bay Mau coconut forest, nearly 100 hectares wide. During the years of resistance war to save the country, Bay Mau coconut forest was a revolutionary base, a safe haven for the revolutionary forces of Hoi An, witnessing many glorious victories.

From those historical values, Bay Mau coconut forest was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic in 2007.

Bay Mau Coconut Forest is not only a relic of special historical value but also a unique ecological area when preserving many unique features of the coastal estuary mangrove ecosystem, surrounded by natural sandbanks, creating a large livelihood area for the community.

Mr. Tran Tan Dung, Chairman of Hoi An Dong Ward People's Committee, said that Cam Thanh is the land at the end of the river and the beginning of the sea, the meeting place of three rivers Thu Bon - Truong Giang - Co Co (Lo Canh Giang), the intersection between two areas of salt and fresh water.

On the land of Cam Thanh, each canal, each coconut bush, each field is the "benefactor" of many generations of people, in times of peace as well as war. Throughout history, local people have always been conscious of preserving the landscape and protecting the environment.

Mr. Dung said that it was inevitable that Cam Thanh tourist village was honored at number 20 in the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world.

"This honor is a message to us and future generations to join hands to preserve natural resources and cultural values ​​of the countryside. We must know how to combine nature and people, ecology and culture to develop and enrich ourselves," Mr. Dung emphasized.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Dong Ward said that 15 years ago, Hoi An City (old) determined the goal of building Cam Thanh into a special ecological village. That orientation was not only the subjective opinion of the leaders but also reflected the will and aspirations of the people of Cam Thanh. The development of Cam Thanh today has proven that.

Nowadays, when the urbanization speed is too fast, the preservation of space, natural landscape and cultural values ​​of the village becomes more urgent than ever. This is also the condition to build Cam Thanh into a prosperous village, a tourist village with quality and sustainable development.

Cam Thanh's ranking in the 20th position among the most beautiful villages is not just a title, but the crystallization of a journey of the people and land here.
