Ta Trach irrigation reservoir is ordered to regulate through spillway and turbine with flow gradually increasing from 300 - 800 m³/s

On the morning of November 12, the City Civil Defense Command issued an order to operate and regulate the Binh Dien hydropower reservoir on the Huong River basin to respond to heavy rains in the coming time. Accordingly, to ensure the safety of the dam and the downstream area, the functional units requested to operate and regulate the Binh Dien hydropower reservoir through the spillway and turbine with a gradually increasing flow rate, avoiding sudden changes of about 200-800m3/s. Adjust the operation depending on the actual flow situation to the reservoir. The time to gradually increase the flow rate is at 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

The City Civil Defense Command requested Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company to organize announcements, siren warnings and loudspeakers for downstream areas, and closely monitor the flow to the lake and water level on the Huong River at Kim Long station.

Localities downstream of Binh Dien hydroelectric reservoir strictly prohibit boating, firewood collection, fishing... on the river, and notify people to proactively prevent.

Previously, the two reservoirs Huong Dien on Bo River and Ta Trach on Huong River also received the regulation order to proactively respond to the heavy rains forecasted to happen in the area. Accordingly, from 4:00 p.m. on November 11, Huong Dien Hydropower Plant began to gradually increase the water flow to the downstream, with the fluctuation level from 300 - 700 m³/s, and will continue to adjust accordingly according to the actual water flow to the reservoir; Ta Trach reservoir operates to regulate through the spillway and turbine with the flow gradually increasing from 300 - 800 m³/s, starting from 8:00 a.m. this morning (November 12).

According to the forecast of the city's Hydrometeorological Station, from November 12 to 21, due to the influence of increased cold air combined with high-altitude easterly winds, the city will have moderate to heavy rain, and some places will have very heavy rain. Total rainfall from November 12 to 21 is generally 500-700mm, in mountainous areas 700-900mm, and in some places over 1,000mm.

Heavy rains are likely to cause flooding, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and along rivers and streams. There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas downstream of rivers throughout the city.
