In response to the reflection that the exam supervisor had disrespectful words towards students at the Examination Council of Nam Dan 2 High School (Nam Dan District, Nghe An ) during the 10th grade entrance exam, causing psychological effects on the candidates, on the morning of June 4, the Examination Council of Nam Dan 2 High School suspended the exam supervisory work of this teacher and arranged for another teacher to supervise the exam.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 3, on social media, a parent of a student in Nam Dan district reported to the Board of Directors of Nam Dan 2 High School that the TVD teacher, who was in charge of the exam at this exam site, had inappropriate behavior and words.
According to this parent, her child was a candidate taking the Literature exam on the morning of June 3, at the exam site of Nam Dan 2 High School. After the exam, the student returned home feeling sad, confused, and hurt by the disrespectful attitude of an invigilator in the exam room.
The parent reported that teacher TVD, working at Nam Dan 2 High School, used contemptuous words towards students while performing his exam invigilation duties.
When a candidate asked for more exam papers, instead of supporting or encouraging him, teacher D said: "Why study so much, you'll end up working as a laborer."
Not only that, when the teacher in the same room signed the student's paper, teacher D sarcastically said: "You love your job, huh?"
According to the report, teacher D almost never directly performed the task of invigilating the exam, leaving the other teacher to take care of all the work in the exam room. This teacher even had a contemptuous attitude towards his colleagues in front of the students.
In addition, parents were also upset that teacher D made disparaging statements about people who do not own cars, showing disrespect to parents and students from working-class families.
“Children are at a very sensitive age, every word, look, and attitude of teachers can deeply affect their psychology and belief in school andeducation . Even though students may not get high scores or fail to pass the entrance exam to a top school, they deserve to be respected and encouraged, not be looked down upon and judged with prejudiced statements,” this parent wrote.
This parent said that this reflection is not intended to attack the individual, but hopes that the school will have a form of timely reminder and correction so that teachers can better understand their responsibilities and impacts on students in the educational environment, especially during important exams.
This parent's petition then spread on social networks and quickly attracted public attention.
Regarding the above incident, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, said that after receiving feedback from parents, the Examination Council of Nam Dan 2 High School verified and suspended the exam supervision work of teacher TVD in the Math exam on the morning of June 4.
From this incident, the provincial Department of Education and Training also directed the Examination Councils in the next exams to seriously disseminate the examination regulations, in which the roles, responsibilities, and positions of the invigilators are determined; at the same time, during the exam invigilation process, always encourage students so that they have a comfortable mentality to do well on the exam.
The Examination Councils will also not arrange teachers who do not meet the requirements and conditions as prescribed to take part in the following exams.
