Shaping the future of AI technology

Anticipation of new announcements

DevDay 2025 takes place at Fort Mason Center, with approximately 1,500 guests attending, including developers, AI experts, investors, and technology partners from around the world . On-site guests will attend a variety of technical sessions and workshops presented by leading OpenAI and partner personnel.

According to Tech Crunch, although OpenAI has not officially announced information, the technology community is predicting some new announcements at DevDay 2025: ChatGPT Browser - a tool that helps ChatGPT access and interact with the web in real time; updated GPT Store - a store where developers can share and sell custom GPTs; AI device developed by OpenAI with Jony Ive - possibly the first prototype of an "AI interactive device" aimed at ordinary users; upgraded API and new GPT model.

Before the event, Sam Altman laid out a bold vision for scaling AI in a personal blog post. Open AI wants to create a factory that can produce a gigawatt (GW) of new AI infrastructure every week, but also admits that doing so is extremely difficult and will take years to achieve.

Although he did not mention specific projects, the foundation of the AI infrastructure that Mr. Sam Altman laid out is mega-projects like Stargate, a $500 billion joint initiative between Open AI, Oracle and SoftBank to build giant AI supercenters across the US.

The main driving force behind innovation

OpenAI’s hosting of DevDay 2025 is said to be aimed at asserting its leadership in practical AI innovation, amid fierce competition with rivals such as Google, Anthropic and Meta, companies that are challenging OpenAI’s leadership in Silicon Valley. Each company is pursuing its own strategy, from deep research, cost optimization, to multimodal AI development, contributing to shaping the future of this technology.

Over the past year, Anthropic and Google's AI models have become increasingly capable of performing coding and web design tasks, forcing OpenAI to release better AI models at lower prices to stay in the race.

According to Business Insider, the growing competition between OpenAI and other tech companies is accelerating the pace of innovation in the field of AI. This race not only improves the performance and features of AI models but also makes AI technology more accessible to a wider audience.

Industry experts, including CEO Sam Altman, see competition as a driving force for progress. Mr. Altman admits that the emergence of DeepSeek AI has forced OpenAI to constantly innovate and improve the quality of its products.

Tech Crunch notes that, in addition to the obvious benefits, AI is posing important challenges that need to be addressed. Ethical issues, governance systems and sustainability are increasingly becoming topics of debate, especially as AI becomes more widespread. In addition, as AI models become more sophisticated, privacy and data security are also becoming top concerns.
