Dinh My helps women overcome difficulties and reduce poverty

Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Dinh My Commune, Tran Thi Man, said that in the 2021 - 2025 term, the Women's Union of the commune completed and exceeded 8/8 set targets, helping 102 poor and near-poor households headed by women to rise up, of which 18 households escaped poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole commune to 1.09%. Not only stopping at economic development, the movements of the union spread a strong spirit of mutual love and support. Implementing the programs "Godmother" and "Millions of gifts to share love", the union helped 23 orphans, gave more than 5,000 gifts to members and women in difficult circumstances, with a total value of over 2 billion VND; supported the construction of 17 warm houses for women, with a total cost of over 830 million VND.

The close connection and trust of members in the association is built on the foundation of effective operating models, notably the "4 know" model (knowing the circumstances of members, listening to members, speaking so that members understand and making members trust). Knowing the circumstances of members is one of the important factors for the association to be able to support the right needs, create connection and attract members to join the organization.

The Women's Union of Dinh My commune regularly organizes forums to listen to members' opinions, helping them share their thoughts and legitimate aspirations. Not only meeting in person, but union officials also listen through Zalo groups, Facebook, and suggestion boxes. The union also strengthens propaganda and raises awareness of members and women about the Union's Charter, laws, gender, position, and role of women in the family and society.

“Finally, we make members believe. We proactively build models and activities to help poor women and poor households headed by women by supporting loans with credit policies to help women develop their economy. The association regularly cares for disadvantaged women, women with disabilities, single women through activities such as health care, visiting, encouraging, giving gifts... to attract women to join the association,” Ms. Tran Thi Man informed.

Most of the members of the Women's Association of Trung Phu 3 Hamlet are hired laborers with unstable income. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen - Head of the Women's Association of Trung Phu 3 Hamlet said that most of the members clearly understand the benefits of health insurance, but life is still difficult so the members do not have enough money to buy health insurance for their families at once. From this reality, the model of a mutual support group to buy health insurance to help members access health benefits was established.

Members of the Executive Committee of the Commune Women's Union contributed 10 million VND as starting capital for a mutual support group to buy health insurance at the Women's Union of Trung Phu 3 Hamlet. From Trung Phu 3 Hamlet, the Commune Women's Union has so far mobilized the establishment of 10 groups, with 230 members participating. "The group supports members with 50% of the cost of buying health insurance in advance. After that, the women pay in installments every week until the amount of support from the group is used up," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Van, residing in Trung Phu 3 hamlet, saved more than 1.5 million VND and thanks to the support group, an additional 3 million VND was used to buy 6 health insurance cards for the whole family. In just 10 weeks, Ms. Van's family paid back the full amount of support, contributing to the family's health care in case of illness.

Thanks to efforts to innovate union work and a strong staff, the Women's Union of Dinh My commune contributes to promoting the role of women in the cause of building and developing the homeland.
