The delegation of the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources learned about the seaweed production process at D&T Khanh Hoa

On the afternoon of October 29, a working delegation from the Vietnam Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance Department led by Mr. Nhu Van Can - Deputy Director, and a delegation from the Philippines Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department led by Mr. Isidro M. Velayo Jr. - Deputy Director had a working session with DT Khanh Hoa Seaweed Joint Stock Company (D&T Group).

The delegation learned about some products made from seaweed at D&T Group.

At the meeting, D&T Group leaders shared some key features of the business, especially the form of farming, processing and value-added products from seaweed. At the same time, they expressed their desire to cooperate with the Philippines in the following areas: Technology exchange, research and development of high-yield seaweed varieties, adapting to climate change; developing value-added products from seaweed for the food, cosmetics, and biopharmaceutical industries; training, exchanging experts, developing technical human resources; building a green - clean - sustainable seaweed value chain according to international standards.

Also at the working session, the leaders of the Provincial Cooperative Union introduced to the working delegation some potential strengths of Khanh Hoa 's fisheries, information about cooperatives operating in the field of aquaculture and seafood processing in the province, and proposed cooperation in the field of aquaculture, especially high-tech marine aquaculture.

D&T Group leaders gave gifts and took souvenir photos with the delegation.

The delegation from the Philippine Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources expressed their impression of the development of the Vietnamese fisheries industry, especially in Khanh Hoa; and at the same time, they wished to cooperate in implementing models of seaweed farming, sea grapes, bird's nest and salt production in the locality. The Philippines has a large seaweed output, mainly carrageenan - raw material for processing many products of high economic value. Therefore, the delegation wished to learn from experience, promote research cooperation, technology transfer and jointly develop projects on farming and processing carrageenan, sea grapes, and sea urchin in Khanh Hoa.

The two sides agreed to regularly exchange information on the needs and possibilities for cooperation between businesses producing, processing, and distributing seaweed, lobster, and salt in the coming time.
