On the morning of June 4, athlete Vo Huynh Anh Khoa won the first gold medal for the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation. Competing in the men's 400m freestyle swimming event in the S8 disability category with 6 athletes from 4 countries, Vo Huynh Anh Khoa finished first with a time of 5 minutes 20 seconds 94, winning the gold medal. Also in this event, athlete Dang Van Cong won the bronze medal. Last year, swimmer Vo Huynh Anh Khoa was also the athlete who won the first gold medal for the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation in this event.

However, the most outstanding achievement in Vietnamese swimming belongs to Vi Thi Hang, in the women's 400m freestyle (disability category S7) when she won the gold medal with a time of 6 minutes 57 seconds 95 and set a new ASEAN PARA Games record (nearly 2 minutes more than the old record of 9 minutes 34 seconds 94). Vi Thi Hang also won the gold medal in the women's 100m freestyle category S7-S8. Last year, in Indonesia, Vi Thi Hang competed very well, winning the gold medal and breaking 3 records in the women's 50m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, so Vietnamese sports fans hope that Hang will win more gold medals at this year's Games.

Yesterday, the Vietnamese swimming team won a total of 7 gold medals, of which 4 gold medals belonged to Nguyen Van Hanh (men's 100m breaststroke, SB 11), Nguyen Thanh Trung (men's 50m backstroke, S4), Vo Thanh Tung (50m backstroke, S5), and 4x100m freestyle relay (Vo Thanh Tung, Quach Van Vinh, Nguyen Ngoc Thiet, Vo Huynh Anh Khoa).

On the afternoon of June 4, weightlifter Le Van Cong competed in the 49kg category. Although no longer at the peak of his career, this weightlifter still showed his superiority in the regional arena. Le Van Cong successfully lifted 162kg, 166kg and 168kg all 3 times to win the gold medal for the athlete with the highest weightlifting (168kg), and the gold medal for the total achievement (496kg). At the age of 39, Le Van Cong has won the PARA Games for the 6th time.

Indonesian athlete Hadi also successfully lifted 160kg, 163kg and 166kg three times, winning 2 silver medals.

Vietnam's Le Van Cong is currently the Paralympic record holder with a lift of 183kg, winning a gold medal in Rio (Brazil) in 2016. In women's weightlifting, Dang Thi Linh Phuong also won 2 gold medals with a best lift of 95kg and a total lift of 279kg (91kg, 93kg and 95kg). In her fourth lift, the Vietnamese female athlete also broke the Games record after successfully lifting 102kg. Athlete Nguyen Binh An also won 2 more gold medals for the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation in the 54kg category with a best lift of 145kg and a total lift of 429kg.

On the women's athletics field, athlete Nguyen Thi Hai (disability class F57) also excelled in winning the gold medal in the shot put event with a score of 8.6m, far surpassing the Indonesian athlete who won the silver medal (7.57m). Athlete Tran Van Nguyen won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw in the F40-41 class, with a score of 32.9m.
