Agree on establishing the Flood Control Project for Huynh Huu Nghia town, My Tu district, Soc Trang province

STO - On the afternoon of May 7, at the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, comrade Lam Hoang Nghiep - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to the consultant's report on the approval of the investment design of the Flood Control Project in Huynh Huu Nghia town, My Tu district, Soc Trang province. Also attending were leaders of provincial departments, branches and the People's Committee of My Tu district.

According to the consulting unit and local leaders, Huynh Huu Nghia town is the administrative, economic, cultural and social center of My Tu district, but due to its geographical location in a low-lying area, it is often flooded due to the influence of high tides and rain. Continuous flooding causes difficulties for people to travel, exchange and trade goods, affecting the living environment and urban aesthetics...

Based on the above situation, the People's Committee of My Tu district has Document No. 59/TTr-UBND, dated April 9, 2025 on reporting the approval of the investment design of the Flood Control Project in Huynh Huu Nghia town, My Tu district, Soc Trang province, with a total project investment of over 94 billion VND, budget capital, implementation period from 2025 to 2028. If the investment policy is approved, it will create favorable conditions for people to live and trade, contributing to the socio-economic development of My Tu district in particular and Soc Trang province in general.

Comrade Lam Hoang Nghiep said that this is a necessary investment project to ensure environmental sanitation and people's lives, so relevant departments and branches should study the investment capital source and request consultants and localities to pay close attention to the investment capital source, maintain the project, and be very careful with the investment capital source. The implementation of the project must comply with legal regulations and the progress must be accelerated; the project must be feasible, meet the set objectives and avoid waste in investment. After this meeting, the People's Committee of My Tu district must focus on speeding up the project implementation procedures, following the procedures, clearing customs for approval by competent authorities for implementation; when there is a decision to end the district-level model, there is a decision to transfer the project, it will be handed over to relevant units to continue implementing this project. The consulting unit will accept all comments from departments and branches to complete this project.
