Social criticism on policies to support and encourage the development of public passenger transport by bus in Soc Trang

STO - On the afternoon of May 6, at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Soc Trang province, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province held a conference on social criticism of the draft resolution regulating policies to support and encourage the development of public passenger transport by bus in Soc Trang province. Comrade Luu Van Xem - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province chaired the conference. Also attending were comrade Quach Hoang Dep - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction; leaders of relevant agencies, units, departments and branches in the province.

At the conference, the representative of the Department of Construction briefly presented the proposal of the Provincial People's Committee, the draft resolution of the Provincial People's Council regulating the policy of supporting and encouraging the development of public passenger transport by bus in Soc Trang province and the meaning and importance of this draft resolution. Specifically, the draft resolution has 6 articles, in which, it specifically stipulates: the scope of regulation, applicable subjects; support for loan interest rates at credit institutions for investment projects in bus vehicles serving public passenger transport; support for loan interest rates at credit institutions for investment projects in building infrastructure serving public passenger transport by bus; support for users of public passenger transport services by bus for bus routes in the province; funding sources for implementation and implementation organization.

Most of the delegates agreed with the content of the submission of the Provincial People's Committee and the draft resolution of the Provincial People's Council regulating the policy of supporting and encouraging the development of public passenger transport by bus in Soc Trang province . According to the delegates' opinions, it is necessary to clearly stipulate the total investment budget by stage; investment adjustment mechanism; calling for socialization; exemption and reduction of fares for subjects (elderly, children, people with severe disabilities, students, etc.); pay attention to surveying the need to open bus stations, increase travel time; need to reduce loan interest rates for investment. In particular, it is recommended to consider, supplement, and correct some words and clause names to be suitable and consistent; review the format of document presentation according to regulations...

Comrade Luu Van Xem acknowledged the opinions of the delegates; requested the Department of Construction to accept the opinions of the delegates and study and complete them before submitting them to competent authorities for consideration.
