Implementing the opinion of the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (QLHC on TTXH) of the Ministry of Public Security and the Director of the Provincial Police, on May 6, 2025, Soc Trang Provincial Police coordinated with the working group of the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order and Genestory Company - the unit directly implementing the collection of DNA samples to organize the collection of DNA samples for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, martyrs' mothers and relatives of martyrs whose identities have not been determined in the province.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Hong Hai - Deputy Head of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order of the Soc Trang Provincial Police said that through the synthesis of the results of the review of local police, in this sample collection period, the whole province has more than 50 cases of relatives who are priority subjects for DNA sample collection, such as Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, biological mothers of martyrs, elderly and weak relatives of martyrs... The police of communes, wards and towns with cases subject to sample collection proactively report and propose to the People's Committees at the same level to arrange vehicles to pick up and support the martyrs' relatives during the process of centralized sample collection at the headquarters of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order of the Provincial Police; ensure control and confirmation of the correct sample collection subjects, fully and accurately integrate information... Particularly for cases of the elderly and sick who have limited mobility, mobile DNA sample collection working groups will be arranged to go directly to the place to collect samples. DNA samples of martyrs' relatives were collected by the testing unit and put into the Gen bank. Then, the information was analyzed and verified with the martyrs' remains that have been searched for and collected.
Taking DNA samples for identification and storing them in a gene bank will be the best preparation for the long journey of searching for and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information. This is the responsibility not only of the police force but also of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the whole society.
