Báo Sài Gòn Giải phóngBáo Sài Gòn Giải phóng18/09/2024

On the afternoon of September 18, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) said it had sent to the Prime Minister a proposal for policies to support businesses in recovering production and business after storm No. 3 (storm Yagi).

Based on the opinions of businesses and associations, VCCI made a number of specific recommendations. In particular, for the industries, fields and localities that suffered the most damage from Typhoon Yagi (including fishing vessels, tourist boats, aquaculture cages on the sea, rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds, it is recommended to support actual damage to aquaculture cages according to Decree 02/2017/ND-CP), VCCI proposed to consider increasing the support amount and apply it to aquaculture enterprises; support actual damage to fishing vessels and tourist boats, exempt water surface rent for aquaculture facilities until the end of 2025 and some related fees and charges for about 6 months to 1 year...

VCCI also proposed that the Government consider and propose to the National Assembly to exempt or reduce 50% of value added tax, corporate income tax, and personal income tax payable for this group for about 4 to 6 months; consider reducing social insurance payments for about 4 to 6 months; exempt the union fee payment to the grassroots level for about 4 to 6 months...

For other industries and sectors in localities affected by storms and floods, VCCI also made many proposals such as: expanding the scope of support to include agricultural production enterprises damaged by storms and floods; reducing value added tax on gasoline from 10% to 8% from September to December for gasoline retail establishments in localities damaged by storms and floods, especially in the northern mountainous areas; reducing value added tax on electricity from 8% to 6% for electricity customers in localities damaged by storms and floods...

Business representatives also requested the Prime Minister to direct the disbursement of the natural disaster prevention fund to provide relief and overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi. According to VCCI, this fund is contributed by businesses and employees, but by 2023, there will still be a surplus of nearly 2,000 billion VND.
