Transform to break through and integrate

Currently, corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises are entering a strong "revolution" of technological transformation, creating momentum to help businesses make breakthroughs to optimize operations, improve production efficiency and expand markets.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Quang, Permanent Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association said: "Digital transformation is not only a trend, but has become a way of life for businesses in the era of national development."

The Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association has considered digital transformation as one of the key pillars in its membership development strategy. Many in-depth programs and seminars on the application of artificial intelligence (AI), data and automation in business administration have been implemented. In addition, the association also connects with major technology partners to support young businesses in accessing solutions suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises.

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association is developing a “membership management platform combined with event management”. This is a system that helps members trade, share cooperation opportunities and connect online, aiming to form a digital ecosystem for the young entrepreneur community in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern key economic region. “We not only want businesses to transform but also to ‘transform’ to break through and integrate”, Nguyen Tri Quang emphasized.

In fact, digital transformation has brought about remarkable results in many fields. Saigon Pure Water Company Limited (Sapuwa) is a typical example. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Sapuwa realized that technology is a vital factor to maintain production and business management. Sapuwa General Director Le Nhu Vu said that thanks to the application of business management software and real-time production monitoring system, businesses can monitor all production, sales and customer care activities with just a few operations on the computer.

“If we used to have to wait until the end of the day to know the output, now we can update it in just a few minutes. Technology (AI) also helps us analyze customer feedback and detect problems early for timely handling. Thanks to that, work efficiency increases, the production workforce is reduced by up to 30% while product quality is more stable. In addition, we are currently promoting digital marketing strategies, optimizing search keywords and online promotion to enhance brand awareness, affirming the position of Vietnamese products that are not inferior to any business in the international market,” Mr. Le Nhu Vu shared.

Not only new businesses, but also long-standing traditional businesses are transforming. Typically, Van Thanh mattress with nearly 50 years of development has also transformed strongly in digitizing the entire production line.

Mr. Truong Khanh Van, Deputy General Director of Van Thanh Mattress Company, said that Van Thanh Mattress has digitized all production data, using AI tools to collect and analyze raw material consumption indicators, thereby reducing costs and limiting environmental impact. “Previously, thin-cut products had high prices due to high raw material consumption. After applying digital technology , the company has determined accurate loss rates, optimized production schedules and significantly reduced costs,” Deputy General Director Truong Khanh Van shared.

Not stopping there, Van Thanh mattress also invests in researching recycled mattress products, utilizing materials recovered from customers, contributing to waste reduction and sustainable development. Currently, Van Thanh mattress is aiming to increase the recycling rate from 70% to more than 90%; at the same time, building a recycling industrial park with a comprehensive digital management process.

Resolution 68 - a "new breeze" in the private business community

According to Mr. Le Nhu Vu, Resolution 68 is like a "fresh breeze" blowing cool air to the private business community. "We are very excited when the State puts private enterprises in the foundation of the economy. We feel closer and more active support from the government, especially since Ho Chi Minh City implemented the two-level local government model, administrative procedures are faster, and officials are friendlier," Mr. Vu shared.

However, Mr. Vu also recommended that the State should have a “separate playground” for Vietnamese enterprises in the field of e-commerce. “Currently, most e-commerce platforms are operated by international corporations, making it easy for Vietnamese goods to be ‘sunk’. We should build an e-commerce platform exclusively for Vietnamese enterprises, so that domestic and foreign consumers can search for Vietnamese products more easily.

In addition, tax policies need to be adjusted more fairly, without priority, just equality. In the industries that Vietnam has done well, opportunities should be given to domestic enterprises, while in areas that require high technology content, we should still open the door to learn from developed countries. Consumer goods and garments should give priority to Vietnamese goods,” Mr. Vu also proposed.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association, Resolution 68 of the Politburo on private economic development has created an important boost to help the business community become more confident and dynamic. “This Resolution demonstrates the strategic trust of the Party and State in the private economy, which is considered an important driving force of an independent, autonomous and deeply integrated economy,” said Mr. Nguyen Tri Quang.

Immediately after Resolution 68 was issued, the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association organized the Vietnam Private Economic Forum with the theme “Unleashing Potential - Creating Vietnam’s Future”. The Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association undertook to organize two of the 13 forums, including the “Go Global - International Integration” round in Thailand. This is where young Vietnamese businesses learn international experience and connect with investors.

"Resolution 68 has brought about clear changes that help the business community increasingly strengthen its confidence and position; the business environment has become more transparent and dynamic; especially, it has aroused the spirit of self-reliance and the desire for integration in the young generation of entrepreneurs. However, the City needs to continue to improve the "government serving businesses" mechanism, creating conditions for young businesses to experiment with new solutions in a flexible, safe and closely monitored environment. The government and businesses need to work together, so that Ho Chi Minh City is not only an economic center, but also an innovation and technology center of the region," Mr. Nguyen Tri Quang, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association, suggested.
