Vietnamese businesses must have the aspiration to reach the world

That is the message emphasized by business representatives at the seminar "New Era - The Era of Rising Up to Develop Wealth and Prosperity of the Nation", organized by the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (Hanoisme) this afternoon (May 10).

“The Go” for the Business Community

Dr. Mac Quoc Anh, Vice President and General Secretary of Hanoisme, said that Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 of the Politburo on private economic development has opened an institutional "runway".

For small and medium-sized enterprises in Hanoi (accounting for more than 98% of the total number of enterprises in the capital), Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW is like a "starting order" for a new race.

Instead of just waiting for incentives, the business community has identified three commitments: transparent governance; R&D investment of at least 2-3% of revenue for technology and renewable energy; value chain linkage.

"Thus, the new mindset is to be proactive and not passively wait - in the true spirit of "businessmen are economic warriors" that the resolution emphasizes" - Mr. Mac Quoc Anh said.

According to Mr. Phan Duc Hieu, Member of the 15th National Assembly, Member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the National Assembly, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW has brought about a spirit of innovation in thinking about law making and enforcement, removing administrative barriers, the "ask - give" mechanism, removing the mindset of "if you can't manage, then ban", enterprises are free to do business in industries not prohibited by law; removing barriers to market access, ensuring a business environment that is open, transparent, clear, consistent, long-term stable, easy to comply with, and low cost.

In 2025, the Government will complete the review and elimination of unnecessary business conditions, overlapping and inappropriate regulations that hinder the development of private enterprises; cut at least 30% of the time and cost of compliance and business conditions.

These solutions will help the business community increase access to land and production and business premises; promote and diversify capital sources as well as the quality of human resources for the private economy.

Business Aspirations

Vietnam is entering a "New Era - The Era of national development and prosperity" in the context of digital economy, green transformation, regional and global connectivity opening up opportunities along with challenges.

The road ahead requires small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their management capacity, innovate technology, standardize ESG (environment - society - governance), a set of three standards to measure factors related to the orientation and sustainable development activities of enterprises.

In particular, businesses must build and preserve Vietnamese cultural identity and Vietnamese corporate culture.

In the discussion, some opinions said that for a long time, the issue of administrative procedures has always been a "bottleneck". Currently, with the new resolutions issued by the Politburo, such as Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration; Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW on innovation in law making and enforcement; Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic development..., creating great opportunities for businesses to make breakthroughs.

Therefore, the business community must make recommendations on the issues that are “bottlenecks”, helping to shorten the investment process and procedures so that businesses do not miss opportunities. The business community must unite, must be like “a bundle of chopsticks” and cannot be separated “each chopstick”.

The General Director of Garment Corporation 10 - Than Duc Viet Joint Stock Company emphasized that the opportunity of a thousand years will come but if not acted upon, there will be no results. Previously, the road from policy to practice was quite long. Now the Party Central Committee has made major decisions and policies, such as streamlining the apparatus, merging, developing the private economy, etc.

The government should have special working groups to listen to difficulties, problems and suggestions from the business community. Because without a specialized department, even if there are many suggestions, it will be difficult to resolve them, or if businesses make too many suggestions without verification, it will be even more difficult to resolve them.

We must make the path from policy to practice as short as possible. When mechanisms and policies are removed, businesses must be determined. May 10 itself always has the aspiration to reach new heights because without aspiration, it will only be limited in scope and difficult to go far.

According to Mr. Than Duc Viet, building a rich, prosperous and happy nation is the common goal of the business community and the whole society.

The strong development of each enterprise will contribute to creating a strong national brand. For the Vietnamese brand to truly reach the world, it requires the cooperation of the entire business community, support from the Government and the trust of consumers.

"In the new era, the era of aspirations to rise up, I believe that, with the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance and core values ​​cultivated by each enterprise, Vietnamese enterprises will constantly innovate and create to improve their competitiveness and reach out to the international market," Mr. Viet said.

As a bridge between businesses and state management agencies, the Association has actively participated in proposing policies, organizing business support programs, promoting connections and cooperation within the business community.
