Nearly 130 athletes participate in the Hanoi Open Traditional Wrestling Tournament Phung Hung Cup

Opening the wrestling competition, Vice Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee Le Dai Thang stated that developing physical education and sports aims to nurture and promote human factors, actively contributing to improving health, enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the people, improving social labor productivity and the fighting strength of the armed forces. In recent years, the physical education and sports movement of the town has contributed to improving the physical and mental health of the people in the area.

In 2022, 2023, 2024, Son Tay town coordinated with the Vietnam Wrestling Federation to successfully organize the Phung Hung Cup National Wrestling Tournament with the participation of many wrestlers from provinces, cities, and industries with strong national wrestling movements across the country, attracting a large audience to watch and cheer.

Continuing the success, from May 22 to 25, Son Tay Town People's Committee continued to accompany the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, to organize the 4th Hanoi Open National Wrestling Tournament for Phung Hung Cup in 2025.

"We believe that the 4th Hanoi Open National Wrestling Tournament for Phung Hung Cup in 2025 with the spirit of "Sports of solidarity, honesty, and nobility", the athletes will dedicate themselves to the audience with exciting matches; the referees will uphold their sense of responsibility, focus their intelligence on managing the matches to ensure compliance with the law", Vice Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee Le Dai Thang emphasized.

This tournament attracted nearly 130 athletes from 17 delegations, provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Hue City, Ha Nam Province, Binh Duong, Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, Tam Duong Vinh Phuc, Son Tay Town, Thach That District, Quoc Oai District, People's Public Security...

Male athletes compete in 7 weight categories: From over 60kg to 66kg; from over 66kg to 72kg; from over 72kg to 78kg; from over 78kg to 84kg; from over 84kg to 90kg; from over 90kg to 96kg; from 100kg and above (talented wrestlers). Female athletes compete in 4 weight categories: From 50 to 55kg; from over 55kg to 60kg; from over 60kg to 65kg; from over 65kg to 70kg.

Wrestling tournament takes place from 23rd to 26th and 27th May.
