Businessman Ho Nhan - son-in-law of Son Kim family passed away due to serious illness

On the evening of May 12, Mr. Ho Nhan, former Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Joint Stock Company, passed away at the age of 59.

The above information was shared by Ms. Nguyen Thi Son - founder of Son Kim Group and also mother-in-law of Mr. Ho Nhan - on social networks to commemorate her son-in-law.

According to information obtained by the reporter, Mr. Ho Nhan passed away due to a serious illness.

Mr. Ho Nhan is known as the "father" of Nanocovax, the first COVID-19 vaccine researched and clinically tested in Vietnam.

Nanogen, under the leadership of Mr. Ho Nhan, was then a rare private company participating in the development of vaccines domestically, with the desire to protect public health during the pandemic. Although Nanocovax had not yet been officially licensed for circulation, thousands of people, including his friends and relatives, participated in the trial.

Information updated to the end of 2019, Nanogen has a charter capital of 715 billion VND. Of which, Mr. Ho Nhan owns 70% of shares (contributing 140 billion VND); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, his wife, holds 25% (contributing 50 billion VND) and Mr. Ho Vu Thanh owns the remaining 5% of capital.

When foreign shareholders joined, Mr. Ho Nhan's shareholding ratio decreased to 67.5%, Ms. Van's to 22.5%, while Mr. Thanh withdrew all capital.

By March 2021, Nanogen increased its charter capital to more than VND806 billion, of which Mr. Ho Nhan owned more than 59% (contributing over VND480 billion) and Ms. Van held 14.61% (nearly VND118 billion). This change reflects the company's strong development, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 29, 2021, an important event took place at Nanogen when Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van officially replaced Mr. Ho Nhan as general director and legal representative of the company.

According to the family's announcement, Mr. Ho Nhan, a PhD, scientist and pioneer businessman in the field of biotechnology in Vietnam, passed away at 4:25 p.m. on May 12 at the age of 59, after a long struggle with heart disease.

Mr. Ho Nhan's funeral was held according to Catholic rites at his home in Thu Duc City. The burial ceremony will be held on the morning of May 16 at Phuc An Vien Cemetery, Thu Duc City.
