Two old school friends in Ha Tinh province were both on the team competing in the International Math Olympiad.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the results of selecting the national team to compete in the 2025 International and Regional Olympics, in which Tran Minh Hoang (grade 12, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) is on the Mathematics team.

From March 25 to 27, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training organized the National Team Selection Exam to compete in the 2025 International and Regional Olympics with the participation of 187 candidates from provinces and cities across the country, with 5 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.

As a result, 6 candidates in Mathematics were selected to participate in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), including: Nguyen Dinh Tung (grade 11, Hanoi National University); Tran Minh Hoang (grade 12, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted), Vu Trong Khai (grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An province), both from Xuan Hoi, Nghi Xuan; Truong Thanh Xuan (grade 11, Bac Ninh province); Nguyen Dang Dung (grade 12, Hanoi National University); Le Phan Duc Man (grade 12, Ho Chi Minh City).

Tran Minh Hoang won the Silver Medal at the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad.

In Physics, 8 candidates were selected to participate in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), all of whom are 12th graders: Nguyen The Quan (Nghe An), Tran Trung Hieu (Hue city), Tran Le Thien Nhan (Hue city), Nguyen Cong Vinh (Bac Ninh), Phan Quang Triet (Nghe An), Ly Ba Khoi (Hanoi National University), Truong Duc Dung (Hanoi National University), Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Anh (Hanoi).

In Chemistry, 4 candidates were selected to participate in the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), including: Nguyen Manh Tuan (grade 11, Hanoi), Giang Duc Dung (grade 12, Hanoi National University), Nguyen Hoang Khoi (grade 12, Hanoi National University of Education), and Ngo Quang Minh (grade 12, Bac Ninh).

In Biology, 4 candidates were selected to participate in the International Biology Olympiad (IBIO), including: Bui Hoang Dai Duong (grade 12, Hue city), Le Hoang Kieu Anh (grade 12, Hanoi), Nguyen Luong Thai Duy (grade 11, Hanoi), Nguyen Huu Thanh (grade 12, Hai Phong city).

In the Informatics subject, 15 candidates were selected to participate in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO). The exam results were announced during the exam process.

The national team selection exam for international and regional Olympic competitions is held to discover and nurture young talents, representing Vietnam in international competitions. The achievements of the candidates not only affirm the quality of Vietnam's leading education but also create motivation for the movement of studying and scientific research among students nationwide.

The Ministry of Education and Training continues to coordinate with relevant units to organize intensive review and training activities to help students best prepare for upcoming international and regional Olympic competitions.
