Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, said: The Department has closely followed the State management function on ethnic and religious affairs; innovated direction, management and resolutely and effectively implemented related programs, projects and policies. At the same time, organized inspections and supervision of implementation to promptly remove difficulties at the grassroots level; grasped the people's situation, promoted propaganda and mobilized ethnic minorities to well implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has coordinated with departments, branches, units and localities to deploy ethnic programs, projects and policies in the province. In implementing the Project "Supporting gender equality activities in ethnic minority areas for the period 2018 - 2025", the Department coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union to compile documents and organize 4 conferences to propagate the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Gender Equality for 200 secretaries, deputy secretaries of Party cells, heads, deputies, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in Moc Chau town and the districts of Thuan Chau, Muong La, Quynh Nhai (old). For projects under the National Target Program 1719, the Department coordinated with specialized agencies to compile content and distribute 10,000 leaflets to propagate early marriage and consanguineous marriage to communes and wards in the province; At the same time, 25 training courses were organized to improve the capacity of union cadres, key forces, prestigious people, commune community supervision boards, poverty reduction collaborators and infrastructure maintenance teams in the villages.
Phase I (2021 - 2025), the National Target Program 1719 of Son La province was allocated 1,444.9 billion VND by the Central Government. Of this, nearly 878 billion VND is development investment capital, the rest is career capital. Up to now, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated more than 1,302 billion VND in detail, reaching 90.1% of the plan; the disbursed capital is 651.36 billion VND, equivalent to 45.1% of the assigned plan.

The implementation of policies for prestigious people among ethnic minorities has been effectively implemented. The province currently has 2,185 prestigious people. Since the beginning of the year, the provincial level has organized 2 conferences to provide information to 141 prestigious people and organized 2 delegations with 80 delegates to study experiences in the northern mountainous provinces and the Central Highlands. The province has supported 87 prestigious households facing sudden difficulties due to natural disasters, with a total value of 174 million VND; coordinated with Son La Radio and Television Newspaper and Ethnic and Development Newspaper to distribute to prestigious people in the area.

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of policies, the economic life of ethnic minorities has changed positively. The whole province has eliminated 3,058 temporary houses for poor households; 268 workers have gone abroad to work under contracts; 100% of poor and near-poor households and ethnic minorities in difficult areas have been granted free health insurance cards. The results of implementing the objectives of the National Target Program 1719 up to now, 98.53% of communes have asphalted or concreted car roads to the center; 78.3% of villages have hardened car roads to the center; 73.5% of communes have solid schools; 99.5% of households use safe grid electricity; 97.5% of rural population use hygienic water; 96.8% of ethnic minorities have access to television; 80.6% of women give birth at medical facilities or with the support of medical staff; 92.5% of villages and hamlets have community houses.

Religious and belief work is carried out in accordance with regulations. Currently, Son La province has 4 main religions (Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism and Christianity) with more than 37,400 followers. The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions advises the Provincial People's Committee to train and develop a team of cadres working in religious affairs, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new period; organize conferences to meet with dignitaries and officials of religious organizations recognized by the State.
The Department has opened two training courses on religious and belief issues in Moc Chau town and Van Ho district (old), with 140 officials and civil servants participating; organized inspection teams in Xuan Nha, Bo Sinh, Huoi Mot, Nam Ty and Chieng So communes. At the same time, it inspected and surveyed charity activities, nurturing and training believers and religious management work at Moc Chau Mission (Thao Nguyen ward) and Muong La Mission (Muong La commune). Through understanding, the majority of believers are working people, have a patriotic spirit, obey the law and fulfill their civic responsibilities in the locality.

In the border commune of Phieng Pan, established on the basis of merging 3 communes of Chieng Luong, Phieng Pan and Na Ot, with a large and complex terrain, including 45 villages with 24,687 people of Thai, Mong, Kinh, Xinh Mun and Kho Mu ethnic groups living. Every year, the commune effectively implements programs and projects to develop the socio-economic areas of ethnic minorities, creating conditions for remote and isolated areas to develop sustainably, narrowing the income gap between ethnic groups and regions.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Vice Chairman of Phieng Pan Commune People's Committee, informed: Since implementing the 2-level local government model, the commune has established the National Target Program Management Board. From state capital sources, the commune has fully implemented investment procedures, selected a consulting unit to design the Na Ot - Phieng Pan road project (section from Ket Hay village to Pa No village), and at the same time supported cultural and sports equipment for the villages: Y Luong, Po In, Phieng Noi, Mat Sang, Lan Quynh, Tang, Na Pong, Pa Lieng, Pa Tong, Vit and Ta Luc.
