Since the beginning of the year, 100% of national and provincial highways have been managed and maintained to ensure smooth and safe traffic. Relevant units have repaired 31.5 km of national highways and 6.55 km of provincial roads, handled 3 points with traffic safety risks and 92 school gates.
Due to the impact of storms and rains, since the beginning of the year, the province has experienced 7 floods causing landslides, infrastructure damage, and local traffic jams on some national highways and provincial roads. The whole province has 258 traffic jams, over 901,000 m³ of sediment and many damages to road surfaces, slopes, and auxiliary works with a total estimated damage of nearly 130 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Hai, Director of the Road Maintenance Management Board (Department of Construction), said: Right from the beginning of the year, we have implemented the 4-on-the-spot principle, proactively arranging materials, human resources and equipment at points where landslides often occur. When floods occur, the Board assigns staff to follow the route, mobilizes machinery from contractors to open temporary roads and clear sediment. Thanks to that, although there are many congestion points in the whole province, most of them are cleared in a short time.

An Loc Company Limited, Song Ma Commune is assigned to manage and maintain the National Highway 4G section from Km90 to Km120. The flood in July caused many landslides on the road with a volume of earth and rock of over 100,000 m³; 14 locations with negative slopes, total length of about 300 m. Mr. Doan Van Nghia, Director of the Company, said: Immediately after the landslide occurred, the unit mobilized all human resources and machinery to promptly overcome the landslide to clear the route as soon as possible, ensuring travel for the people.
Regular repair work is focused on. In 2025, the Road Maintenance Management Board will implement 9 projects (6 national highways, 3 provincial roads) with a volume of nearly 30 km of national highway asphalt, 6.55 km of provincial road asphalt; handle 3 accident risk points, 92 school locations. To date, 2 projects have been completed, the remaining 7 projects are being implemented, ensuring progress and quality.
Taking on the project to upgrade and maintain nearly 5 km of National Highway 37 through Mai Son Commune, with a total investment of more than 27 billion VND, Anh Trang Son La Company Limited started construction in May 2025. Mr. Dao Ngoc Anh, Director of the Company, said: The Company proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to both construct and maintain smooth traffic, limiting the impact on the people. However, due to the impact of the weather, while the section on National Highway 37 has many difficult locations for construction, the unit has prepared a backup plan, sent technicians to the construction site to handle the situation promptly, striving to complete the project in December 2025.

To improve the effectiveness of road management and maintenance, the Department of Construction advised the Provincial People's Committee to assign over 685 km of national highways and other assets associated with the routes to the Department for management and maintenance. At the same time, coordinate with the Provincial Police and localities to review and propose handling of potential traffic accident risk points, especially at school locations and provincial roads; promptly detect and handle illegal connections and construction within the road safety corridor. In addition, it is proposed to allocate funds to handle 81 potential traffic safety risk points and 170 school gate points on provincial roads.
With the attention and direction of all levels, sectors, and coordination of localities and construction units, the road system in the province is regularly maintained and repaired, ensuring a smooth, safe and modern traffic system, meeting development requirements in the new period.
