Accordingly, during peak periods of holidays and Tet, press and radio agencies promptly reported on traffic safety situations, focused on propagating and disseminating traffic safety laws and criticizing common violations such as: violating alcohol concentration, carrying more people than prescribed, not wearing helmets when participating in traffic by motorbike, motorbike... In the first months of 2023, functional forces coordinated with local authorities to organize legaleducation and propaganda , and at the same time reminded 1,402 households that were trading and encroaching on the roadway and sidewalk; combined handling and propaganda in the field of road and inland waterway traffic for more than 1,311 people; directly propagandized 118 passenger wharf owners, 415 inland waterway vehicles, and 1,603 people participating in waterway traffic.
Promoting information, propaganda and education on traffic safety in schools, up to now 100% of kindergartens, preschools and general schools in the province have included traffic safety education in teaching for students and continue to integrate traffic safety education into subjects to educate students. Schools strictly manage students and trainees going to school by motorbike, motorbike, and waterway vehicles.

Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) propagates traffic safety and related regulations at Huu Nhem Ethnic High School, Thoi Binh district. |
Right from the beginning of the school year, all students and trainees have written a commitment to follow traffic safety rules; parents who pick up and drop off their children are also aware of traffic culture. Many schools have taken the initiative to regulate traffic during school hours, reducing congestion and disorder in front of the school gates.
However, according to the assessment of the functional sector, there are still certain limitations in this work. The dissemination of laws and guidance for traffic participants is mainly carried out superficially, at different times and places, not focusing on groups of traffic participants at high risk of violations (youth; ethnic minorities; people living in rural areas, remote areas, etc.). The propaganda and education work on traffic safety in districts and cities is still general, without specific programs, plans, and directions. Most localities do not spend much time and budget on propaganda work, especially not paying attention to propaganda through the radio system at district and commune levels.
The traffic safety situation in the first quarter of 2023 in the province has many positive changes, reducing all three criteria on traffic accidents. Ca Mau is the province with the lowest number of deaths due to traffic accidents in the country. However, through assessment, it shows that the traffic safety situation in our province is still complicated. In order to continue promoting the achieved results, as well as continuing to reduce traffic accidents to the lowest level, Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, requested all levels and sectors to strengthen solutions closely following the functions, tasks as well as the actual situation of the locality, focusing more on propaganda work.
Accordingly, it is necessary to pay attention to education on traffic safety order; focus on forms of propaganda and education on traffic safety suitable for each subject (especially students), characteristics of each locality; integrate images, consequences, and harms caused by traffic accidents; gradually change the arbitrary and reactive habits of traffic participants to voluntary compliance, forming and implementing a good "Traffic Culture" lifestyle.
“Continue to innovate the content and form of propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic laws in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-absorb and appropriate manner to create a strong change in awareness and action of all levels, sectors and people in ensuring traffic order and safety; each person must be aware of protecting themselves and responsible for protecting others when participating in traffic. Build, replicate and maintain effective models and good practices in ensuring traffic order and safety. Apply modern technology in information and communication management to detect and forecast positive and negative information trends, beneficial and unfavorable for the direction and operation of ensuring road traffic order and safety”, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted./.
