New energy source for Vietnamese women's volleyball with fitness expert

The most positive change in the Vietnamese women's volleyball team during this training session is the presence of Australian fitness expert Karl Lim. With many years of experience as a fitness coach for many volleyball teams in different continents, expert Karl Lim has developed a fitness training program suitable for the physical condition of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.

Vietnamese players said that expert Karl Lim did not "cram" the physical training volume at once but divided it into stages with many suitable exercises, gradually increasing the volume to help the players accumulate effectively. Thanks to that, after more than 1 month of training with expert Karl Lim, the players' physical strength improved significantly and almost no one was overloaded leading to injury.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was delighted when the physical weakness of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team over the years was improved. "The coaching staff noticed positive changes in the players' physical strength. That is the foundation for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to become increasingly stronger, capable of playing matches lasting 4 or 5 games or long tournaments," Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared.

Ready to defend the throne

Right before the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, the top scorer of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, suffered from back pain, causing the coaching staff and fans to worry. The "scoring machine" of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is expected to recover in time to fight alongside her teammates. Even without the service of Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is still considered a strong candidate because the tournament does not have the participation of the strongest volleyball teams in the continent, China, Japan, Thailand, and Korea. At the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, the most formidable opponent for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team is the Kazakhstan team, currently ranked 31st in the world , exactly 1 place higher than the Vietnamese team.

Besides Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still has the main players who have been with them for many years, such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Le Thanh Thuy, and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh. The three new players summoned by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet this time, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen, and Nguyen Thi Phuong, are all retained in the list of 14 players competing at the AVC Nations Cup 2025. In particular, Bich Thuy has become increasingly stronger after being trained in the Korean volleyball tournament, promising to play explosively. Striker Nguyen Thi Phuong showed impressive form for the Information Corps Club in the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, ready to shine if given the opportunity. In addition to the goal of defending the AVC Nations Cup championship, the Vietnamese team also aims to complete the squad to participate in upcoming major international tournaments such as the World Championship (August) and the 33rd SEA Games (December), both in Thailand.

According to the draw results of the AVC Nations Cup 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in Group A with Hong Kong, India, Australia, and Taiwan; while Group B includes Kazakhstan, Iran, Mongolia, Indonesia, Philippines, and New Zealand. The first and second-placed teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
