Sharing before the training session at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center on the afternoon of May 23, striker Pham Hai Yen said that after nearly three weeks of training, the Vietnamese women's team had a notable friendly match with the Werder Bremen women's club (Germany).

Although only testing the lineup and tactics, the match brought many practical lessons for the Vietnamese players.

“After the friendly match with Bremen, the whole team learned a lot from how to defend, organize attacks to how to coordinate and support each other on the field. Up to this point, we have only had more than 2 weeks of training, after the friendly matches, each individual player has learned from their own experiences to improve," Hai Yen shared.

The female striker born in 1994 also said that the team is currently undergoing high-intensity physical training. This is an important foundational preparation step before entering the next series of friendly matches, as well as the upcoming overseas training trip.

"I believe that with careful physical and professional preparation, the team will be ready to enter the new phase with the best spirit and form," she emphasized.

According to the plan, next week, the Vietnamese women's team will have 3 more domestic friendly matches. The first match will be against the Dao Ha Football Training Center in Vinh Yen on May 26. After receiving additional players from the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, the team will continue to play friendly matches with the Bac Ninh Veterans team on May 28 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and the Son Tay Youth team on May 31 in Son Tay.

These matches are not only an opportunity for the coaching staff to test the squad but also help the players gain more competitive experience, creating a stepping stone before the 10-day training trip to Japan (June 8-18). This is considered an important preparation stage towards major goals in 2025, including Olympic qualifiers and regional tournaments.

“The training trip to Japan will be a great opportunity for us to compete and learn from the top players in Asia. My teammates and I are all very excited and have prepared ourselves mentally for the upcoming stage. Hopefully after this trip, the whole team will progress, improve our weaknesses and compete better," Hai Yen said.
