Take advantage of Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Binh - Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics , University of Economics (University of Danang) - representative of the consulting unit of the Project on Building a Free Trade Zone in Danang, the establishment of the Free Trade Zone in Danang approved under Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 allows Danang to overcome geographical limitations; reaching out to the economic scale not only in the Central region, the whole country but also internationally.
Speakers shared at the seminar on developing Da Nang into a regional logistics center.
Logistics is an important component of the Free Trade Zone, combining multimodal transport, warehousing and ancillary services. Currently, diverse logistics service providers are operating in Vietnam, including international express delivery, multimodal transport, supply chain management, e-commerce logistics and specialized logistics services for industries such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
“These services are very suitable for the development orientation of Da Nang Free Trade Zone in creating an international logistics center, supporting a diverse supply chain for strategic economic sectors,” Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Binh said.
Talking about the effectiveness of the cross-border e-commerce system, Mr. Vo Van Khanh - Chief Representative of the Vietnam E-commerce Association in the Central Highlands region cited that Amazon has more than 10 million Vietnamese products sold globally. Therefore, it is proposed that there should be a regional cross-border e-commerce hub located right in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Delegates asked questions to the speakers.
“Thus, we can take advantage of policies, incentives and be the driving force to promote logistics. Choose transit goods (not yet imported to Vietnam, located right in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone) to connect to the world's major markets (India, China). This is also the driving force for the development of Da Nang and regional enterprises,” said Mr. Vo Van Khanh.
Ms. Dao Thanh Huong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Economy and Services, Ministry of Planning and Investment said that for logistics, connecting infrastructure plays an important role in connecting production and trade. The locations in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone are expected to be many zones and linked together. Therefore, investment in transport infrastructure outside the zone is a requirement that needs to be addressed.
“The issue here is how we will prioritize infrastructure investment. This must be specifically demonstrated through budget allocation, public-private partnership attraction portfolio, preferential credit loans, etc. So, when it comes to the investment attraction policy mechanism for the Da Nang Free Trade Zone Project, I think we need to clearly define what kind of investment is outside the zone, what kind of investment is inside the zone, review the current policy mechanism to propose mechanisms to create motivation for Da Nang…”, said Ms. Dao Thanh Huong.

Seminar on Developing Da Nang into a Logistics and International Logistics Production Center through Leveraging Free Trade Zones
“Free trade zones in Germany and Costa Rica are successful examples of combining green production with strict regulations on environmental protection, recycling and energy saving. Applying this model will help localities not only protect the environment but also enhance the image of the city as a friendly investment destination, meeting the global trend of sustainable development,” Dr. Hong Minh explained.
Dr. Tran Thi Hong Minh also noted that digitizing warehouse management, transportation tracking, and customs clearance processes will help reduce costs, increase operational efficiency, and help businesses easily access international markets. Applying blockchain technology in data management and traceability of goods, along with AI to analyze the supply chain, creates a significant competitive advantage.
