Dong Nai announces decision to recognize national treasure and opens exhibition on Ancient Metallurgy

(DN) - On the morning of April 11, at Dong Nai Museum, the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize national treasures and opened the exhibition of Ancient Metallurgy in Dong Nai.

Attending the announcement ceremony were comrades: Pham Dinh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL); Nguyen Son Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the announcement ceremony, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported the scientific dossier and announced the Prime Minister's decision to recognize the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue as a national treasure. Currently, the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue is being kept and displayed at Dong Nai Museum, serving the needs of sightseeing and learning of all classes of people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung highly appreciated the efforts of the Department of Culture, collectives and individuals in building the dossier to propose the recognition of the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue as a national treasure; at the same time, requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue separate regulations and policies to protect and promote the value of national treasures.

In addition, it is necessary to develop plans to protect, preserve and promote the value of treasures; promote and publicize national treasures through specialized exhibitions introducing typical cultural heritages of the province. Quickly implement the project to innovate and adjust the exhibition at Dong Nai Museum, digitize relics, apply technology in exhibitions, especially the exhibition of national treasures.

At the announcement ceremony, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also organized an exhibition on Ancient Metallurgy in Dong Nai. The exhibition displayed more than 100 images of important archaeological sites and more than 200 artifacts demonstrating a flow of metallurgical techniques, bronze casting, and iron forging in the early bronze-iron period in Dong Nai, including the Long Giao bronze pangolin statue.

In addition, the exhibition also introduces to people and visitors the characteristics, role and position of metallurgy in the development of society, related crafts, manufacturing processes, traditional bronze casting models, and bronze casting products in Dong Nai.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to research and comments on scientific dossiers of national treasures of Dong Nai province.

The exhibition is open free of charge to the public and visitors until May 30.
