According to the report of the Provincial Party Committee, over the past 5 years, through propaganda work, all levels, sectors, cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members and people have basically grasped the viewpoints and guiding contents of Directive No. 42. The work of improving the capacity to warn, forecast, monitor and supervise natural disasters in the province has been increasingly improved.
In terms of resources, from 2020 to present, the province has invested in the construction, repair, upgrading and expansion of 21 irrigation and disaster prevention projects with a total cost of more than 3 trillion VND. In the coming time, the province will continue to direct the completion of procedures for 23 new projects with a total implementation cost of more than 7.7 trillion VND.
Despite many positive results, the implementation of Directive No. 42 still has shortcomings and limitations. That is, the inspection and supervision of the development and implementation of disaster prevention and control plans in some localities is still slow. The capacity to forecast, warn and monitor natural disasters is sometimes inaccurate.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Thai Bao acknowledged and commended the results of natural disaster prevention and search and rescue work of the provincial Party Committees, departments, branches, unions and local authorities over the past 5 years.
Comrade Thai Bao also pointed out some limitations that need to be overcome, such as leadership and direction that are sometimes not timely and comprehensive. Investment resources for disaster prevention and response are still low compared to actual requirements. Forecasting, warning, monitoring, database, equipment and support tools, and resilience of disaster prevention and control works still have many shortcomings.
The awareness of some officials and people is still subjective, not focusing on prevention and response to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change. The implementation of works to reinforce landslides and drainage is still slow compared to requirements. The application of science and technology, information, propaganda, training, raising people's awareness, and community response capacity have not received due attention.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested the Provincial Party Committee, local authorities and units to focus on implementing a number of tasks in the coming time, such as: Continuing to thoroughly implement Directive No. 42; reviewing and developing documents to implement the Law on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the 2020 Law on Dikes, the Law on Civil Defense and other documents and regulations; promoting training and drills for specialized forces to carry out evacuation, rescue and relief work in disaster-affected areas; continuing to do a good job of propaganda to raise awareness and community-based disaster risk management; further promoting the role of the press and media in information and propaganda work, creating a strong and widespread spread throughout society.
On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee commended 7 collectives and 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Directive No. 42.
