Facebook co-founder exhausted, confesses “having to wear a mask every day”
After 13 years of running Asana, Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz admitted he was exhausted from having to always appear strong, losing joy in his work.

Dustin Moskovitz, co-founder of Facebook and CEO of Asana for more than a decade, has shared rare insights into his stressful leadership journey. He admitted that “having to wear a mask every day” to show strength gradually exhausted him.
Initially, Moskovitz only wanted to focus on engineering and had no ambitions to be CEO. But the fierce flow of startups forced him to take on a leadership role and face enormous pressure.
His time running Asana coincided with tumultuous times like the COVID-19 pandemic and social crisis. Even though the company grew and went public, the price was the founder's mental health. Moskovitz admitted that he had lost his creativity and wished he could go back to being an engineer.
