Shaping smart universities with flexible and connected training systems
According to Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cao Vinh - Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, in the context of current educational innovation, institutions need to play a role in "activating" development. The new regulations of this university, when issued, must not only be legal but also demonstrate the strength of the system, promote creativity and flexibility in training.
Ho Chi Minh City National University aims to become one of the top 100 universities in Asia by 2030. To achieve this goal, training is identified as a key task, closely linked with scientific research and innovation.
Mr. Tran Cao Vinh believes that innovating the interdisciplinary and inter-school training model will be an important step to create differences and breakthroughs.
"In the context of fast-moving global higher education, Ho Chi Minh City National University needs to boldly expand training methods and build a legal framework for creative and effective pilot models that can be replicated in the future," he said.
Allows recognition of credits from high school, interdisciplinary, inter-school
On the afternoon of September 19, the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City National University announced three important draft regulations on piloting the development and implementation of credit-recognizable and transferable courses; credit recognition from high school level in the form of MOOC; and interdisciplinary training.
Recognition and transfer of inter-program credits : Regulations on block credits allow students to transfer credits between modules within the Ho Chi Minh City National University system, including in full, partial or conditional form, depending on the level of similarity in content and output standards.
Recognition of credits from high school through MOOC : This regulation creates opportunities for high school students to study early. Students can study some university courses early through the MOOC online platform of Ho Chi Minh City National University, or organized by training institutions. The learning results will be considered for credit recognition when students are admitted to a member school.
Interdisciplinary training : Member units can coordinate to build integrated programs, organize joint teaching and jointly award degrees. This model requires transparency, integration of training programs between sectors and a clear coordination mechanism on tuition fees and legal responsibilities between parties.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Kha Tu - Deputy Head of the Training Department, the above drafts are all built on the current legal foundation and training practices at Ho Chi Minh City National University, with the goal of improving quality, modernizing the training system and increasing the ability to connect between levels, majors and training units.
