After 30 minutes of eating shrimp and experiencing an allergic reaction, the patient's family listened to an acquaintance's advice on how to cure the allergy by burning the shrimp shells to ashes and drinking it. After that, the patient fell into a critical state of anaphylactic shock.
Hung Vuong General Hospital ( Phu Tho ) has just admitted a 17-year-old female patient with a critical level of anaphylaxis to shrimp. The patient was admitted to the emergency room at night with a red rash all over her body, difficulty breathing, slow response to calls and questions, a fast, weak pulse that was difficult to detect, intermittent abdominal pain, and unmeasurable blood pressure.
According to information provided by the patient's family, the patient had a history of allergies to freshwater shrimp, crabs, and peanuts, so he thought eating shrimp would be fine. Thirty minutes after eating shrimp, the patient experienced abdominal cramps. About two hours later, the patient developed a red rash, hives, and itching all over his body. His family gave him anti-allergy medication, but the symptoms did not improve. Four hours later, the patient continued to have abdominal pain, vomited, and had two loose stools.
Listening to an acquaintance, the family burned the shrimp shells into ashes and gave it to the patient to drink. However, immediately after drinking it, the patient vomited a lot and fainted, so the family took him to the emergency room at Hung Vuong General Hospital.

Upon receiving the patient, taking his medical history and symptoms, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a critical level of anaphylactic shock to shrimp and applied an anaphylactic emergency protocol. After an intramuscular injection of adrenaline, the patient's condition did not improve, so the doctor prescribed continuous intravenous infusion to gradually stabilize the patient and maintain blood pressure within limits. After 3 days of treatment at the hospital, the patient fully recovered and was discharged home.
Through this patient's case, doctors advise people to be careful in their eating and drinking. If you have a history of reactions to any food, you should stay away from it to prevent an allergic reaction like the patient above.
Doctors also recommend that when the body has an allergic reaction after eating or drinking, it is necessary to quickly take it to the nearest medical facility for examination. Absolutely do not treat it with folk remedies or word of mouth without scientific basis, which will be very dangerous to life.
