Vinachem's new investment projects are all based on modern technology.

HANOI On the morning of November 6, Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) held a conference to summarize science, technology, innovation and digital transformation activities in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision for 2026-2030.

The conference is an important milestone for the Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) to look back on the past 5 years, evaluate outstanding achievements and identify urgent directions for modernization in the context of the country promoting industrialization, associated with green transformation and digital transformation according to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo .

Phase 2021 - 2025: More than 250 billion VND investment, 3,700 initiatives

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Phung Quang Hiep, Member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Chemical Group affirmed: "As one of the key state-owned economic groups, the pillar of Vietnam's chemical industry, Vinachem always identifies science - technology, innovation and digital transformation as key driving forces for sustainable development."

Over 56 years of establishment, Vinachem with 34 member units, nearly 20,000 employees operating in 6 key fields, has been playing a key role in ensuring food security, energy security and providing essential materials for the national economy.

The period 2021-2025 is the period when Vinachem has a clear transformation in production scale, product structure and technology level. Many projects to innovate equipment and improve technology have been implemented, helping to improve product quality, save raw materials and energy, and at the same time better meet domestic demand for basic chemicals, fertilizers, batteries, car and motorbike tires, etc.

The Group has gradually approached and applied advanced scientific and technological advances, notably the application of automation and digital technology in production line management; focusing more on products with high added value such as chemicals for the electronics - semiconductor industry, renewable energy. In addition, environmental protection, chemical safety management, and waste treatment have had positive improvements, towards sustainable development and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

According to the report at the conference, in the period of 2021-2025, the Vietnam Chemical Group invested a total of more than 250 billion VND in science - technology, innovation and digital transformation. With the core role of the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry, the Group has also implemented 76 topics and projects and recorded more than 3,700 initiatives and technical improvements.

These activities bring about double effectiveness, contributing to energy saving, cost reduction, productivity increase, and at the same time helping Vinachem master many technical processes and develop new products such as environmentally friendly fertilizers, pure chemicals, radial tires, etc. Many projects have been registered for patents, contributing to improving the competitiveness, production and business efficiency and brand reputation of Vinachem.

However, the Conference also pointed out inherent limitations: production technology in some fields is not yet high, research and development capacity is still scattered and urgent pressure from safety and environmental requirements, along with the global energy transition trend, requires the Group to make a shift in technological innovation and product restructuring.

Strategy 2026-2030: Maintaining the position of the leading regional corporation

Entering a new phase, Vinachem has determined the goal of making science - technology, innovation and digital transformation become strategic pillars in the restructuring and green growth process.

Accordingly, all new investment projects of the Vietnam Chemical Group will be based on modern, high-performance, environmentally friendly technology. The focus is on developing pure and specialized chemical products with high added value, serving key industries.

At the same time, it is necessary to promote comprehensive digital transformation, develop smart factory models, digital enterprises, build industry data infrastructure, and gradually apply artificial intelligence in management, production and trade.

In addition, through developing the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry into a core research and innovation center, Vinachem aims to closely connect with domestic and foreign institutes and schools.

At the same time, Vinachem encourages member enterprises to establish and operate the Science - Technology Development, Innovation and Digital Transformation Fund to create a stable financial source, ensuring flexible and timely support for research and application of new technologies.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, General Director of Vietnam Chemical Group, emphasized that with a higher goal in the next phase, the Group determined that science - technology, innovation and digital transformation are key growth drivers.

In particular, the Group focuses its resources on strongly promoting automation, modernization, developing diversified products with high added value, deeply participating in the global value chain, thereby consolidating and maintaining its position as the leading Group in Southeast Asia and making an important contribution to the country's double-digit growth target in the coming years.
