Pepper prices fell at the end of May 2025, marking the lowest level since the end of January 2025. In the domestic market, prices decreased by 500 - 2,500 VND/kg compared to the previous week. In the export market, black pepper prices lost another 200 USD/ton after only one week of trading.
On a global scale, pepper prices in countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil, etc. have all recorded a decrease of 150-200 USD/ton in the past month; only Indonesia has shown signs of a slight recovery. The main reason is the unstable tariff policy of the US, causing import businesses to limit signing new contracts. In addition, shipping costs increased by 20-30% in the past week, putting further pressure on prices.
Experts say pepper prices in the coming time will fluctuate within a narrow range, depending on purchasing power from the US, China and businesses' storage capacity.
