To proactively respond to the storm, ensure safety of flights, people and property at airports, and minimize negative impacts on flight operations, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires agencies and units to be on duty 24/7.
At Van Don International Airport and airports under the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) located in the affected area of storm No. 11, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested ACV to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports.
Agencies and units deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear water flows in airports, protect works, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.
For airports under construction such as Cat Bi International Airport and Vinh Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires investors to request contractors to immediately deploy storm response work; determine technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments; prepare conditions to promptly fix construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms. At the same time, arrange 24/24h duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also noted that after the storm weakens and makes landfall, there is a risk of post-storm rain.
Regarding the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested VATM to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; and provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
For airlines and flight safety service providers, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires units to strengthen coordination; closely monitor the developments of storm No. 11 to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure safety for flight operations.
In addition, agencies and units must fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological facilities and, based on the actual situation, deploy necessary response actions to minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, and protect people and property of the unit from natural disasters.
For the Northern Airport Authority, the Authority requests the Airport Authority to supervise the implementation of response contents at relevant airports; ensure smooth communication with the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant agencies and units within the scope of responsibility to deploy response in all situations.
