Ms. Tong Minh Thu, residing in An Duong district, Hai Phong city, whose son is taking the 10th grade entrance exam this year, shared that her son chose and registered for the exam at An Duong High School, An Duong district, Hai Phong city. His academic performance is good. However, he chose a school near his home for convenience in commuting, living and studying when he meets the requirements to pass the exam at the school he chooses.

The 10th grade entrance exam has ended but the whole family is eagerly waiting for their child's exam results. Not only her family but also her friends, neighbors, and relatives whose children or grandchildren are taking the 10th grade entrance exam at this time all share this same expectation.

Ms. Thu added that right after the exams, her children shared that the exam questions for this year's subjects were easy to understand, they did well on the exam, and they were satisfied with their exam results.

Before the exam, Thu and her mother researched and looked at the admission scores at the school they registered for the 10th grade entrance exam for the last 3 years.

"Based on the results of the most recent years, the benchmark score depends on each year. Some years the benchmark is as high as 32 points, some years it is slightly lower, the benchmark score for the first choice is 30 points. The entrance score at the school will depend on the test-taking ability of the students that year and there will be high and low scores corresponding to the quality of the students' test. If the test is easy, students who do well on the test will have a high benchmark score and vice versa," Ms. Thu shared when asked about the predicted benchmark score for grade 10 in Hai Phong in 2024.

In the same situation as Ms. Thu and her daughter, Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, residing in Kien An district, Hai Phong city, said that her child studies at Bac Son Secondary School, Kien An district, Hai Phong city. Recently, her child registered for the entrance exam to Phan Dang Luu High School in the district. Right after finishing the exams, Ms. Hoa's daughter exchanged information with the homeroom teacher about the exam and the exam answers. After matching the answer information with the teacher, her daughter scored herself and estimated that her score for the exam subjects was 40 points. Accordingly, the previous floor score at the school Ms. Hoa's child registered for the exam was 30.5 points.

According to Ms. Hoa's research, the number of students taking the entrance exam to the school her child registered for is very low. The difference between the number of applications and the admission quota is 13 applications, so the opportunity for the children is great.

Ms. Hoa added that her child really wanted to get into Kien An High School, a prestigious school in the district. However, he was not confident enough so he made a safe choice. After finishing the exam, he felt regretful when he saw that the test was easy to understand and do.

Hai Phong's schedule for announcing benchmark scores in 2024

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Xuan, Tran Phu Secondary School, Kien An District, Hai Phong City: "In fact, this year's exam is more open, requiring students to have thinking and life experience. This year, the exam is quite easy, so students are very excited and complete the exam well. The exam score is based on the ability that students show in the exam. And the floor score is based on the general exam-taking ability of students. Therefore, when the exam is easy, the standard starting score will usually be high, and difficult exams are also based on the exam score to take as the basis for the entrance standard score."

Although she did not predict the benchmark score for grade 10 in Hai Phong in 2024, Ms. Xuan encouraged: "You should be happy and comfortable accepting the results of your choice instead of regretting that you did not choose this school or that school."

According to the plan of the Departmentof Education and Training of Hai Phong City, the exam will be graded from June 9 to June 16. The exam results will be announced on June 17, 2024.

Thus, the announcement date for the 10th grade entrance exam scores for Hai Phong in the 2024-2025 school year is June 17, 2024. Then, no later than July 5, 2024, the Department of Education and Training will announce the benchmark scores for admission to grade 10 of public high schools. The second benchmark scores for admission to grade 10 of public high schools (if any) will be announced by the Department on July 12, 2024.
