According to a VNA correspondent in Tokyo, Japanese public opinion on April 28 continued to report extensively on Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's visit to Vietnam, highlighting the results achieved after the high-level talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Ishiba.
The official websites of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kyodo News Agency, NHK Radio and Television, Asahi Newspaper, Sankei Newspaper, and Japan Times all reported in detail the consensus between the two Prime Ministers, highlighting the issue of maintaining international order and a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based trade system. NHK Television also showed images of Prime Minister Ishiba laying a wreath and visiting President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
Japanese media quoted a press release at the joint press conference of the two Prime Ministers saying that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Ishiba agreed to upgrade the Strategic Partnership Dialogue mechanism at the Deputy Foreign Minister level to the 2+2 Dialogue at the Deputy Foreign Minister - Defense level and hold the first meeting this year.
Kyodo news agency and NHK both quoted Prime Minister Ishiba as saying: "Strengthening our relationship with Vietnam, a country with an important geopolitical position, will contribute to the stability and prosperity of the region. Japan and Vietnam will enter a new era together."
Japanese media quoted Associate Professor Saya Kiba of Kobe University of Foreign Studies as saying that in Southeast Asia, where the economy continues to grow rapidly, Vietnam is one of the countries benefiting from multilateral free trade.
According to her, in the context of the free trade system that may be shaken by US tariff measures, economic frameworks such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) may become increasingly important.
Besides, Associate Professor Saya Kiba also affirmed the importance of the high-level talks between Vietnam and Japan - two countries with close economic relations./.
