On November 25, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung chaired a meeting on the development and application of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry.
UAVs are opening up a new global industry, moving from the experimental stage to global, commercial, industrial-scale production.
This is a strategic industry, capable of creating large added value and directly contributing to GDP growth, improving labor productivity, and helping to protect national security and sovereignty .
Vietnam holds many advantages to develop UAVs and soon participate in this strategic industry.
Reporting at the meeting, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan shared a number of views, including: Research, development and application of UAVs is an urgent need to master core technologies, form a UAV industry to serve people's lives, promote socio-economic development; UAV is a comprehensive high-tech industry;

Developing the domestic application market as the central driving force for the UAV industry; focusing on investment in inventions and innovations in scientific, technological and innovative tasks related to UAVs; UAVs not only serve socio-economic development in peacetime, but also play a role in ensuring national defense and security.
The general goal is to develop national capacity in absorbing, mastering, innovating and gradually becoming autonomous in technology, soon forming a UAV industry to serve the economy, society and national defense.
From there, enhance competitiveness and turn Vietnam into a leading center of innovation and UAV production in the region, contributing to economic development.
"In the process of building goals, tasks, solutions for developing and applying UAVs, the Ministry has consulted international experience and reviewed, learned, and understood the internal strength of domestic enterprises in this field," said Deputy Minister Vu Hai Quan.
After listening to comments from ministries and agencies: National Defense, Public Security, Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Construction, Government Office, Military Technology - Telecommunications Group, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Science and Technology and said that the basic contents closely followed Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation.
"However, it is necessary to carefully consider and perfect it to properly reflect the national strategy," the Deputy Prime Minister noted and suggested that the Ministry of Science and Technology review and standardize a number of specific goals, ensuring practicality and feasibility during implementation.
It is necessary to focus on building specific solutions with clear content, focus, key points, breakthroughs and high applicability in many fields.
