What foods can I bring to Singapore?

Việt NamViệt Nam14/09/2023

A representative of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said that visitors to Singapore can bring a certain amount of food for personal consumption without needing an import permit if:

- That product/food is allowed.

- Value is within allowable range.

- Not for sale for commercial purposes.

Specifically for the above question, meat must have a clear origin, and passengers are allowed to bring a maximum of 5 kg. For fruits and vegetables, the requirement is to bring "a small, sufficient quantity" for personal consumption (such as in carry-on luggage). Fresh fruits and vegetables can be imported from any country as long as they meet the conditions of the Singapore Food Authority (SFA).

Travelers who want to bring food should choose foods that do not require refrigeration, such as cookies and other heat-processed foods, instead of perishable products and meat.

According to plant control rules, imported fresh fruits and vegetables must not contain any prohibited pesticides or the level of pesticide residue or toxic chemical residue must not exceed the prescribed level.

Visitors wishing to bring in larger quantities of food for personal use will need to apply for a business licence or register with the SFA and apply for an import licence for commercial food imports (including bringing in food products for consumption or distribution at weddings, charities, exhibitions).
