'Hai Phong Book Street 2025' displays more than 10,000 books

Hai Phong people are excited to participate in the book street.

This is the first time Hai Phong city has organized this activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day - Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Festival 2025 and to celebrate Vietnam Book Day April 21.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, said that this cultural activity lasts for a month and is "a special reading culture of the city" organized in the Kim Dong flower garden - the most beautiful flower garden in the city center.

The first Hai Phong Book Street in 2025 will create a space for publishers, businesses, book trading and distribution companies to share, learn, exchange professional experiences, promote brands, access readers' needs and new book making trends, domestic and foreign publishing market trends, connect and exchange with publishers, professional associations, and the world publishing industry.

The book street is also a space for knowledge, a place to nurture and spread the habit and love of books, a "dating" spot for city residents, an ideal stopover for locals and tourists. Activities contribute to bringing books closer to readers, have a great impact on forming reading habits, and improving reading culture for people.

According to the Organizing Committee, Hai Phong Book Street 2025 has 16 booths displaying, introducing and selling about 10,000 books in many genres such as children's books, science books, literature and art books from 15 major publishers and bookstores nationwide.

Along with reading books directly, readers can access the website https://www.thuvienhaiphong.org.vn of Hai Phong Library to access the database of books, newspapers, and magazines including more than 100,000 bibliographic records providing information about authors, works, publishers and topics... to search for information quickly and accurately.

The book street also has a space for entertainment and recreation with activities such as displaying images of construction and innovation, achievements and aspirations of Hai Phong city; typical marine cultural heritage; displaying award-winning works at the Book Painting Contest of students in recent years; experience programs, creative science at some booths such as children's painting, statue painting, printing experience, Dong Ho painting and many other rich activities.

Ms. Mai Thi Thanh Tam, representative of Phuong Nam Bookstore, said that the unit introduced more than 200 books, including 50 best-selling works. Participating in "Hai Phong Book Street 2025" is an opportunity for the unit to reach many readers of different ages, thereby grasping the habits and needs of the Hai Phong public to best serve.

Mr. Hector Masia, a Spanish tourist, said that he had 2 weeks of traveling and working in Hai Phong and was very happy to come here on the occasion of the 2025 Book Street. He was very impressed with the display booths as well as the excitement of the people when participating in the book fair.

Hai Phong Book Street 2025 takes place from April 19 to May 20.
