Khanh Hoa railway and road flooded due to heavy rain, authorities make efforts to clear the route soon

Heavy rains that have lasted since the night of November 15 have caused many railway and road sections in Khanh Hoa to be deeply flooded, forcing four trains to stop and wait for the water to recede, and many urban and mountainous routes to be partially cut off. Authorities are urgently repairing and conducting technical inspections to soon restore traffic and ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles.

On the evening of November 16, the leader of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch (located in Khanh Hoa province) said that due to the heavy rain from last night, November 15, some railway sections passing through Nam Cam Ranh commune, Khanh Hoa province, in the Cam Thinh Dong intersection area, were flooded, and some trains stopped running.

Accordingly, at km 1369+421, the water flooded the railway about 0.25cm and flowed into the guard house; at km 1367+050, the water flowed with soil and rocks to fill the railway gap. In the afternoon of the same day, the railway sector mobilized forces to fix the problem. However, the weather in this area continued to rain heavily, the water level rose, and there was a risk of railway safety loss. As of 8:00 p.m., the functional unit had temporarily stopped 4 trains at both ends of Nga Ba station and Cam Thinh Dong station to wait for the water to recede, ensuring train safety. In favorable weather conditions, after inspection, if the technical conditions are guaranteed, the railway sector will soon allow traffic to resume.

It is known that the flooded railway location in Nam Cam Ranh commune is one of the weak points of the railway industry. In recent years, when encountering incidents of heavy rain and flooded railways, the railway industry has stopped trains to ensure traffic safety. However, this time the train stopped for quite a long time.

In addition, heavy rain also caused many sections of roads in Bac Cam Ranh ward and Nam Cam Ranh commune to be deeply flooded. Authorities have blocked and assisted road vehicles.

Heavy rain also caused water to overflow the spillways in the mountainous communes of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh. In particular, at Khanh Son Pass, a large amount of small rocks and soil flowed onto the road. Authorities have been working hard to clean up since the afternoon. At Khanh Le Pass, connecting Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces, heavy rain caused water to overflow onto the road. Vehicles passing through here move slowly to ensure safety.
