"The Vietnamese team is about to make its debut at the Women's Volleyball World Championship. They deserve this achievement when they finished fourth at the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship," FIVB emphasized in an article on the Volleyball World homepage when commenting on the situation of Group G - the group with the presence of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team - at the world championship taking place in Thailand from August 22 to September 7.
Notably, FIVB unexpectedly mentioned athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen when the athlete born in 2000 decided to withdraw from the Vietnamese team and not participate in the world championship.

"The Vietnamese team is currently ranked 22nd in the world rankings, just above Kenya. Earlier this year, Vietnam won the AVC Nations Cup for the third consecutive time. Less than two weeks ago, the team won a historic gold medal at a tournament in the Southeast Asian Women's Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League).
However, the most valuable player of both tournaments, setter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, will not go to Phuket with the Vietnamese team, but the team will have the presence of excellent members such as wingers Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, center back Tran Thi Bich Thuy and libero Nguyen Khanh Dang," FIVB commented in the content section.
Talking about the situation of Group G as well as the teams' chances of passing the group stage, FIVB believes that the Polish and German women's teams are two strong candidates.
"Poland is the highest-ranked team to qualify for the World Volleyball Championship through the world rankings. They are also the highest-ranked of the four teams in Group G (currently ranked 3rd in the world).
They have participated in the World Volleyball Championship 11 times and the silver medal they won at the first edition in 1952 is their best result in the history of the tournament.
Twelve of the 14 players from the excellent squad that represented the hosts at last month's VNI finals in Gdansk have been selected by Italian head coach Stefano Lavarini for Poland's World Cup squad.
The list features names like centre-back and captain Agnieszka Korneluk and strikers Magdalena Stysiak, Martyna Lukasik and Malwina Smarzek, among others," FIVB said about the strength of the Polish women's team.
Meanwhile, speaking about the German team, the FIVB also emphasized: "The German team has participated in 17 previous Women's Volleyball World Championships, and their best achievement so far is the 4th place achieved by the East German team in 1974 and 1986. Earlier this year, Germany finished 7th at the European Volleyball Nations Championship.
In Thailand, Italian coach Giulio Bregoli's squad will be led by 25-year-old striker Camilla Weitzel. Libero Anna Pogany, wingers Lina Alsmeier, Lena Stigrot and Hanna Orthman, and striker Marie Scholzel will be the most experienced of the 14 players travelling to Phuket.
In the group stage of this year's world championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will meet Poland on August 23, Germany on August 25, before facing Kenya on August 27.
