Nearly 1.17 million candidates take the 2025 high school graduation exam

The Ministry of Education and Training 's Exam Management System locks the function of registering for the 2025 high school graduation exam at 5:00 p.m.

The Ministry said more than 1.12 million 12th graders successfully registered, with nearly 42,800 independent candidates. All candidates took the exam on June 26-27.

In the graduation score calculation formula, exam scores account for 50%; the rest is the grade 10, 11, 12 report card scores (50%) and priority points if any. Compared to before, the report card score increased by 20%.

More than 16,100 independent candidates also registered for the exam under this program, even though they previously studied the old program (2006).

More than 26,700 independent candidates remain to register. The exam will be based on the old program . Candidates will take the Literature, Math, Foreign Language exams, and one of two exams: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, CivicEducation ).

The 2025 high school graduation exam scores were announced on July 16. Last year, about 99.4% of more than a million candidates passed the exam, the highest rate since 2015.

Most universities use the results of this exam for admission. Of the nearly 615,000 candidates entering university in 2024, more than 52% applied for admission using this method. This is also the highest rate in the past three years.
